Hello Peter,
About 1.5 years ago I purchased a Suite Sleep Little Lamb Latex mattress setup for my 3 year old from a local store.
I wanted an organic mattress for my child. After using it for a year we hated it, but were given no resolution from either the manufacturer or the local store.
The reason we hate the mattress setup is because we often co-sleep with the 3 year old & have found the mattress incredibly hard.
I only weigh 100 lbs. lockjaw and stiffness and dad a sore back & numb arms when he awakes.
Of course, we know this mattress was not manufactured for a 200 lb adult, but I told the salesperson at the store co-sleeping would likely happen.
He,(as typical of salespeople), assured me that it would be fine, saying, in Europe, they sleep on mattresses like this and it is adults to sleep on as well.
I went ahead and purchased all the additions that were recommended as child grows.
So, we would have the more mature child setup to try to accommodate adults as well.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t provided the information you have posted on your website about weight limits for this setup.
I deeply regret spending over $2000 for the setup, which included
· 6” Dunlop latex mattress
· 2” latex topper
· 1.5” wool topper
Given the information I have provided, do you have any recommendations on something different?
As much as I wanted to go with organic, I’m open to conventional at this point, in order to be more comfortable.
Should we use the latex as a “boxspring/base” and add another softer latex style mattress or topper, or a hybrid coil / latex mattress, etc?
I have read some of your responses and know you recommend not going from one extreme to the other.
But, we are miserable and worry what this hard mattress may do to our child as he grows bigger.
He is still quite small at just under 40 lbs / 4 years old but given how miserable I am at only 100 lbs.
I have my doubts this is a mattress that is good for anyone without some kind of more plush topping.
Dad doesn’t’ always sleep at night with kiddo, but often naps with him on weekends.
Mom does co-sleep almost every night & expect that will continue for at least 1-3 more years, which means I need something more comfortable.
FYI, dad & I have a Sealy Posturpedic Natural Origins Ultra Plush that we’ve had for 9 years and still like it.
Thank you in advance for your help!
