I am trying to decide between the Plush tight top or Medium Firm tight top Simmons Beautyrest.
I am a 110 lb., side/stomach sleeper, and my husband is 6', 200lb. side/back sleeper.
We do not want any memory foam, if possible as we both sleep hot.
From my research it seems both these models have memory foam.
There doesn't seem to be any other models for us to try out, that doesn't have memory foam.
I understand, from reading your blogs, that a latex topper will keep us from sleeping hot.
Does that really work?!
You bet it works...works well and lasts a long time.
Latex is the only product that you can buy, that more than pays for itself...as it also extends the life of the mattress.
The latex topper insulates you from the memory foam in the mattress, and allows you to sleep cooler.
When choosing a Simmons Beautyrest, it's imperative that you DO NOT opt for a "plush" model.
It will lose its shape quickly under a large man, as the gauge of wire used to make the coils of their plush models, is much thinner than the gauge of wire used to make the coils in their firmer models.
Go for the medium firm and add the soft latex topper.
What we recommend is the Simmons Beautyrest in Medium Firm.
Add to that, a Suite Sleep 2" Soft Organic Latex Topper.
This mattress, also uses a double tempered pocketed coil unit with latex upholstery.
The coil count is higher and the latex is better than in the Wolf mattress.
This particular model is very firm...too firm to sleep on comfortably.
The latex topper will do two things...provide the surface comfort you and your wife need to sleep deeply, and prevent the mattress from wearing by absorbing much of your body weight.
Latex is and has been the best upholstery material for the last 100 years.
High quality latex lasts for years. So as the years go by, you should only need to replace the topper from time to time.
Since there is a substantial difference in weight between you and your wife, it will be imperative that you rotate your new mattress regularly to attain more even wear, which will extend the comfort life of the bed.
Rotate it once a month.
If the mattress is a king size, I suggest a quarter turn rotation.
Only a king is square enough to pull this off.
The quarter turn rotation will enhance the even wear of the mattress.
This mattress comes with white glove delivery, which includes set-up and removal of your old mattress.
Delivery is free and there's no sales tax.
Keeping your mattress clean and dry will increase its longevity.
We recommend our Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Protector.
Early on it started sagging on each of our sides of the bed and there is a high spot in the middle.
I’ve filed warranty claims with them about it, twice, and they have denied me, twice.
They say the sags aren't deep enough to get an exchange.
I am so angry that I spent almost $5,000 on this crappy mattress.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Anita
Memory foam is specifically designed to do what yours has done.
The sagging is much greater when you're in the mattress, as the memory foam softens from your body heat.
When you get off of the mattress, the memory foam returns enough, so that you won't prevail in a warranty claim.
The whole purpose of memory foam is to sell more mattresses, more frequently to the same people.
Consequently, memory foam has created a boon for the industry and a nightmare for the consumers who buy into the hype. You'd think that memory foam was the best thing since sliced bread, according to the hype.
Despite all that hype, memory foam has proven to be the worst upholstery material ever invented.
However, there is a solution...short of buying a new mattress.
Your one sided mattress consists of two parts...the memory foam on top, and the firm poly foam that supports it.
If you flip your mattress over, the troublesome and worthless memory foam will then be on the bottom.
The firm poly foam that supports it, will then be on top.
All you need is a to add a soft latex topper to that, and you’ll be comfortable.
Latex is far more resilient than any other type of foam...and resists body impressions.
Buy a Suite Sleep 3" Pure, All Natural Soft Dunlop Latex Topper...and your problem is solved.
