Would a slatted platform bed be good support for a mattress.

Hi Erica,

The cross slats need to be supported by a beam that runs head to foot up center.

That center beam needs to be support by, at least, one leg to the floor.

Take a look under the bed. If it has all that, you’re good to go.

Most platform beds have it. Only a few don’t.

Hi Sandra.

You're just the right size for the Wolf Tulah. It's all the mattress you need.

But first, your box spring must be replaced.

I can only imagine that much of your discomfort stems from the worn out support your mattress is getting.

If your mattress is that old, as well, then there's no question as to why you're suffering.

 

The Wolf Tulah offer excellent support and comfort.

But it doesn't have a matching box spring and that needs to be addressed.

If you have a bed, (headboard, or headboard and footboard), that you want to keep, I suggest getting a new box spring from Costco, Sam's Club or Big Lots. They are very strong and very reasonably priced.

If you don't have a bed, or one that you care about, the Wolf Basic Black Platform Bed is a good choice.

Hi Adam,

Sealy went from making 2 sided mattresses to one sided mattresses in 2003.

In 2013, Tempurpedic bought Sealy.

There is nothing made by Sealy, today, that is even remotely close to what you have.

We had been a Sealy/S&F retailer for many years.

When Tempurpedic Bought those companies, they loaded everything with their memory foam.

We stopped selling both brands at that time. 

What had been quality products are now nothing more than expensive junk.

All thanks to the memory foam, which is the worst upholstery material ever invented.

The good news! You can stop wasting your time looking for something that doesn't exist.

A Bigger Mattress for My 16 Year Old Daughter.

Every mattress needs something to support it.

A standard bed frame and box spring is best purchased at Big Lots, Sam’s Club or Costco....by far, the least expensive places to buy those items.

They're good quality, too. Their mattresses aren’t worth a hoot, but the box springs are just fine.

I found your website while researching the internet for information on our current mattress.  

We purchased a Sealy SpringFree Meadowcrest Latex mattress, more than 10 years ago.

 

This mattress is very heavy and we are looking to purchase a platform bed that will be strong enough to hold it.  

I was hoping you would have an idea of how much this mattress weighs.

 

Also, while reading your question and answer section, I noticed that you recommended flipping the mattress.  

Can this mattress be flipped?  It would be great if we could continue to enjoy it.

That mattress is about 200 Lbs.

Be sure that any platform bed you buy has all the needed center supports.

 

Yes, you can continue to use and enjoy that mattress.

They were topped with plush poly foam, which is the part that wears.

Flipping the mattress brings the latex core to the top.

The latex core is very firm...too firm for comfort.

Add a Pure Bliss 3" Plush Natural Talalay Latex Topper to the flip side. 

It will become very comfortable and last for many years.

A Two Sided Mattress with No Memory Foam.
