Hi Georgina,

What you're experiencing is very common with any memory foam mattress.

They advertise it, and sales people talk about that junk, as if it were the best thing since sliced bread.

The reason?...profit!

It's all about "The Benjamins", to reiterate a recently coined phrase.

 

However, there is a workable, long-term solution to your problem.

The bad part of the mattress, the memory foam, is only on top of the mattress.

Supporting the memory foam, is firm high density polyurethane foam.

 

Step #1, flip the mattress over...putting the memory foam side down, where it can no longer hurt you.

The underside is very firm and may be too firm to sleep on comfortably.

Use whatever you have on hand, like a comforter, to soften it.

 

Step #2, add a Suite Sleep 3" Soft Organic Latex Topper.

This will provide you long term surface comfort that is, by far, higher in quality than memory foam.

Latex is and has been the best upholstery material for the last 100 years.

It sleeps cool and won't allow you to sink.

You can expect delays, depending on the factory and product you're buying.

Natura of Canada is closed until April 13th. So, you can add an additional 2 weeks to the wait time stated on our website.

Wolf, which only takes about a week to arrive, normally, is likely to take 2 weeks.

Hi Doug,

This all started, back in the 1980s....after a very nasty and prolonged price war. 

At that time, the department stores were the only stores getting their own model names.

All of the furniture and mattress stores got the same model name.

 

The factories were just then beginning to computerize their operations.

A different model name became easy to do with computers. And so, the price was problem was solved.

This is what created today's shopping nightmare for consumers.

 

And, of course, that entire system became abused. 

Retailers had been discounting prices to order to compete with one another. 

Now, they inflate prices since those prices have become protected.

You can negotiate the price. But when you're in that position, you never know of you got the best price.

 

In order to shop effectively, get the specifications of the mattress you like.

Each store carries a specifications list for each of the mattresses they sell.

They don't like to share that information...for obvious reasons...so, you may have to insist. 

Once armed with that information, you can easily compare them to the specifications of other mattresses.

Comparing that list of specifications to the list of another mattress, even if you don't understand what they mean,

is the only way to look inside, what is otherwise, a blind item.

 

This process is purposefully made difficult for the consumer.

The mattress industry is NOT consumer friendly.

The use of chemically toxic memory foam, is more evidence of that.

Stuck Exchanging Our Name Brand Mattress at the Store.

So, we are stuck with a name brand mattress with memory foam.

I'm sorry to hear that you're stuck...one of the disadvantages of the comfort exchange scam.

Another pitfall is getting a used mattress that someone else sent back.

To be sure this doesn't happen to you, check the plastic in which the mattress is covered.

It should be heat sealed on all four edges.

If one of those edges is taped closed, you know it's been out of the bag.

 

Best advice under these circumstances:

Get a mattress that is firmer than you think you like. This will be better support for your spine.

Add a Pure Talalay Bliss 3" Plush Natural Talalay Latex Topper to that for surface comfort that will remain like new.

The latex will insulate you from the memory foam, be more comfortable for a much longer period of time, and extend the life of the mattress.
