In checking with the Sealy Hospitality website, the Artesia model is no longer being made. It featured an individually pocketed coil system, which is why you found it so comfortable. The minimal use of memory foam helped, as well as.

A Firm Mattress for a Big Man. A Soft Feel for a Small Woman.

The only way to get something that will be soft enough for your fiancé and strong enough to hold up under a man your size and support your back properly, is to use high quality materials.

The industry, as a whole and especially the name brands, are geared to selling mattresses that are specifically designed to need frequent replacing under average body weight, using memory foam upholstery on top.

Latex was hit hardest during the pandemic, with supply disruptions and price increases. 

However, there’s still nothing like the feel and durability of latex.

EverEden was so badly affected, they switched to memory foam, which is thee thing to avoid. 

So, we no longer sell that brand.

 

We did pick up a line of advanced memory foam mattresses that are made in Italy. Magniflex.

They are chemical free and not temperature sensitive...the two reasons why I don’t like memory foam.

They call it MemoForm.

I don't recommend any all foam mattress for a 60 year old.

At that age, there are bound to be some worn discs that require the support of innerspring mattresses.

 

A cheap, throw away mattress has no value. 

Under a larger person, a cheap mattress will need such frequent replacing, that it ends up costing a lot more in the long term.

I have a very good quality, lower cost option for you.

The Wolf Tulah Luxury Plush Eurotop Mattress strikes me as being the kind of mattress you’re looking for…well made, but much more reasonably priced.

This mattress uses the same type of coils, so there’s no sacrificing support.

The upholstery is Certi-Pur Certified Safe polyurethane, which is less expensive than latex.

I can, indeed, help you.

Over the years, we’ve helped people who weighed in excess of 500 Lbs.

It’s important to understand that a mattress, like any other upholstered product, is pressure sensitive. The softer it is to start, the quicker it will wear.

Most of today’s mattresses, including all of the name brands that you could once trust to make a quality product, are upholstering their mattresses with memory foam.

Memory foam is temperature sensitive, as well as pressure sensitive.

The temperature sensitivity causes memory foam to soften further as it warms from your body heat. This makes the wearing process exponentially faster.

 

There are are two parts to a mattress…the support and the comfort.

The comfort layers will wear first. So, for the sake of longevity, it’s important to use a latex topper to provide the comfort.

Latex is and has been the most resilient, most durable upholstery material…by far.

 

My recommendation comes in two parts:

A mattress strong enough to hold your weight.

We need to replace a Stearns and Foster Blisswood Mattress.

Hi Wendy,

Given your sizes, you got quite a lot of years out of that sleep system.

However, it may very well be that you don't need anything, as yet.

There is a trick that often works, which may put off the need for a new mattress for a number of years.

Remove your topper...flip your mattress...flip and reapply your topper.

 

The underside of the mattress is firmer...and flipping it may be all you need to do.

Try it that way for the next couple of nights, and let me know how you're doing.

 

If you do, in fact, need a sleep system, I suggest the Natura of Canada Greenspring in Luxury Firm.

All of the name brands have been sold to investors.

All name brand mattresses are now made for high profit.

The quality that used to be their hallmark no longer exists.

There are 3 different types of foams used in the mattress industry.

Memory foam has proven to be the worst, over its 20-year history.

Polyurethane foam was the standard foam used since the 1970s.

Latex foam is and has been the best upholstery material for the last 100 years.

 

The foams used in the Natura of Canada Greenspring Mattresses are:

Natural plant-based polyurethane...'an inch of soft poly foam in the quilted cover and an inch of firm poly foam under the latex', just above the coils.

Natural Talalay Latex is in between the two poly foam layers.
