That mattress hasn’t been made in years.

In fact, Simmons was sold to an investment group 6 years ago.

In short, there’s absolutely no way to get that same exact mattress.

 

Today’s Simmons Beautyrest mattresses are upholstered with memory foam.

The mattress you slept on has no memory foam in it.

Memory foam is specifically designed to cause a mattress to need frequent replacing.

It sleeps hot and off gasses the toxic chemicals from which memory foam is made.

 

You would not want anything made by Simmons today.

 

What makes a Beautyrest so comfortable is the coil system.

The individually pocketed coils, moving independently from one another, contour to the shape of the body and maintain the natural alignment of the spine.

This type of support has been the most popular for the last 100 years.

 

My recommendation is The Natura of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush Mattress.

This has that type of coil system.

The number of coils is higher and the coils are stronger than in anything Simmons has ever made. What’s more, the primary upholstery is Natural Talalay Latex.

Latex is and has been the best upholstery material for the same past 100 years.

It’s more comfortable and more resilient than any other type of foam. And, it’s hypoallergenic.

There is NO MEMORY FOAM in this mattress.

 

Due to the high resiliency of the coils and upholstery materials, this mattress is not as soft as the designation would imply.

But it is comfortable and not too soft.

My wife and I have been sleeping on this mattress for the past 8+ years and it’s still in like new condition, despite each of us weighing more than 200 lbs.

I just started searching after a few weeks of very uncomfortable sleep.

My husband weighs 100+ pounds more than I do and I'm under 130lbs.

Hi Kathy,

Frequent rotating of the mattress is important for even wear and the comfort life of the mattress when there’s a big difference in body weight. Another option is two twin-xl mattresses, which would allow you to replace only his when he needs it. 

But that does complicate things when trying to match the height.

A google search will determine if there’s a retailer in your area who carries that mattress.

Unfortunately, most stores are pushing memory foam upholstered mattresses because of the frequent replacing, which boosts profits.

That mattress was made before Simmons was sold to an investment group.

Since being sold, the quality has reduced dramatically.

And, there is now toxic chemical off gassing from the cheap memory foam they are using.

Nothing Simmons makes, today, is worth buying. They no longer make the World Class.

All of their mattresses pose a health hazard from the carcinogenic chemicals used to make the memory foam.

I routinely wake up to lower back pain on a four year old mattress

I currently have a four year old, what appears to be, a firm or med mattress.

Much to my disappointment, I routinely wake up to lower back pain.

 

I have been reading your review and responses to various inquires.  

Like some of your respondents I too experience morning pain, for me lower back and neck/thoracic area. 

Both are related to old injuries. 

I am 63, very active with outdoor sports year-round, in very good physical shape , at 5'10, 205 lbs.

 

Last week I spent 7 nights on a Simmons Hyde Park Plush Simmons Beautyrest hotel mattress.  

Each day I awoke without any pain. 

I have not been able to find the model on line.

The lack of pain from that hotel mattress comes from:

That mattress having an individually pocketed coil unit.

No memory foam.

 

Unfortunately, these older hotel mattresses are no longer being made without memory foam. 

Simmons was sold to an investment group after that mattress was made.

Sealy Posturepedic Spring Tree Lane Mattress.

2013 is the year Tempurpedic purchased Sealy.

You have one of the last good quality mattresses Sealy made for retail.

In January of 2014, the entire line changed to include common memory foam in the upholstery layers.

At some point thereafter, their ‘Posturetech’ coil system, which is in your mattress, was changed to a pocketed coil system.

 

There is no retailer in the country that carries a Sealy mattresses that is anything like the one you have, nor worth buying.

The Sleep Number Bed is WORST Mattress EVER!

I have read some of the reviews here. 

My daughter and I visited the Lowes Royal Pacific Hotel in Florida. 

I have to say that was the best restful mattress I have ever slept on. 

My husband insisted on buying a sleep number king size with the remotes that let up and down. 

I have to say that the Sleep Number Bed is WORST Mattress EVER! 

My side has a trenching effect and you have to fight like crazy from constantly rolling to the center. 

I am a side sleeper and this mattress has made my hips and shoulders hurt like crazy. 

Every morning, the same pain. 

I'm always dreading to go to sleep at night. 

I would like to find a mattress that gives support on the hips as well as all over support. 

I am trying so hard to convince him we need to search around for something new. 

What would be a good comparison to the Lowes Hotel mattresses or what would you recommend.  

Sleep number is OVER RATED for the price they sell these monsters for. 

I'm open to any suggestions.

I went to a mattress place today and they tried to sell me an Englander mattress. 

My husband is looking at a Helix mattress, but I'm not sure about that one either.

I’m always sorry to read stories like yours, where one spouse is so affected by advertising that they’re attracted to every bad choice that comes along.

It surprises me that your continual pain isn't enough to convince your husband.

 

Your Sleep Number bed is nothing more than a bag of air, upholstered with memory foam.

An air bag provides lousy support for your body and memory foam is the worst upholstery material ever invented. It costs so much because of all the money spent to advertise it.

 

Lowes Hotels use a Stearns and Foster mattress that’s especially made for them.

It’s not available in stores.

S&F had been owned by Sealy for many years until Tempurpedic came along and bought them in 2013.

 

Today, everything they make is loaded with memory foam, except for the mattresses they make for some hotels, who wouldn’t stand for the frequent replacing that memory foam is designed to cause.

 

However, you can buy a hotel grade Sealy mattress from their hospitality division, directly. 

Perhaps they have something similar to the Lowes mattress.

Sealy Postureperdic Plush Hotel Mattress.

I had slept on a Sealy Postureperdic Plush Hotel Mattress, and it felt wonderful for the 1 night I slept on it.   

I understand it no longer is made. In its place is a Sealy Posturepedic Deluxe Soft mattress.  

I've not purchased any new mattress yet. 

However, after reading the reviews on this mattress I see that it gets terrible reviews.

 

I suffer from many back issues, i.e. Spondylolisthesis, Sciatica, Arthritis, etc.  

So, having the right mattress is so important for me.  

I’m a side and stomach sleeper and was hoping you could direct me to a mattress that would work for me.

One that offers the comfort I so hope to obtain. 

My husband can sleet on anything.

Replacing a Weston Hotel Heavenly Bed Mattress.

In 2004, we spent two weeks in a Westin Hotel in Venice sleeping on The Heavenly Bed.

It was so heavenly that we bought one from Nordstrom, the only store selling them in 2004.

Eighteen years later, it is sagging; and we are both in our eighties and suffering from severe back pain and obviously looking for a new mattress.

Natura of Canada Liberta ultra plush mattress.

Hello Pete,

My husband (160 lb side & back sleeper) and I (119 lb side & stomach) are looking for a new mattress. 

I sleep on a mattress at a friend's home or hotel that is extremely comfortable. 

I can never totally figure out what about the mattress is so good.

But I always think the mattress feels dense and you can't feel movement. 

Yet they are soft enough on top to feel good. So, no back or hip pain. 

I recently visited a friend and slept on a Simmons Beautyrest mattress that was pretty comfortable. 

My back felt better. Label said year 2012.

So, would you recommend the Natura of Canada Liberta ultra plush mattress with the 9" foundation?

The Natura of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush is as you describe…dense and you can’t feel movement.

The latex upholstery is more resilient than other types of foams, which makes the surface feel firmer than it sounds. It's comfortable, but not too soft.

You’ll sleep more on it than in it.

You can’t buy a higher quality mattress, at this point.

Simmons was sold to an investment group in 2016 and the quality dropped significantly due to the memory foam they are using.

That same investment group also bought Serta.

Sealy and Stearns & Foster were purchased by Tempurpedic in 2013.

The same drop in quality befell them, as well, and for the same reason.

 

My only concern is the height of the foundation.

The 5” foundation is normally purchased with that 13.5" mattress.

Please measure how high off the floor you want your mattress to be, before choosing the 5” or 9” foundation.
