We are definitely overdue for a replacement mattress! We currently have a Stearns and Foster and would like to ask your recommendations for a new Stearns and Foster mattress.
This, for two people who have rotator cuff syndrome and sleep on our sides.
One is 300 pounds with arthritis in the legs, and also has fibromyalgia.
One weighs 175 and has sleep apnea but without any cpap.
I cannot find the name of our current Stearns and Foster to discuss.
We did get one without a pillowtop, and it is a very thick innerspring mattress.
One of my main questions is whether we need a latex or some type of topping.

Oddly enough, you are 1 of 2 people, today, who have an old Stearns & Foster mattress and are looking to replace it with a new Stearns & Foster.
Here's the situation. S&F is now owned by Tempurpedic. Everything they now make, is loaded with memory foam.
Your old mattress didn't have memory foam.
We used to be a Sealy/S&F retailer, but dropped both lines when the new Tempurpedic owned, memory foam loaded models came out in 2014.
Memory foam, in its 20 year history, has proven itself to be the worst upholstery material ever invented.
Unlike other upholstery materials, memory foam is temperature sensitive. It softens and sinks as it warms from your body's heat.
It wears out quickly and becomes uncomfortable within a matter of months. However, when you get off of the mattress, the memory foam returns, (which is why it's called memory foam).
It returns enough that you will never meet the criteria needed for an exchange.
The end result is that you have to replace your new mattress every couple of years or so. It's been a boon for the industry and a nightmare for the consumer.
And, as if all that weren't bad enough, memory foam off gasses the toxic chemicals from which it's made.
There was a time, no all that long ago, when S&F was considered the Cadillac of the industry. Now, it's just expensive junk.
You have stepped out of a time warp, so to speak....expecting a new S&F mattress to be as good as your old one.
They are nowhere near as good.
If you would like a recommendation for a high quality alternative, all you need do is ask.
If you're intent on buying a S&F mattress, you can do that anywhere and it won't much matter which model you choose.
They're all bad.

We soo got your message on no longer sleeping on a caddy.
I am notttttt a fan of Tempur-Pedic anything. I watched politely as they tried to convince this aching body to buy one.
I got on one...they are hot, they smell, and I couldn't turn over. The pain I already had in my shoulder received no relief in wrestling the foam.
We would appreciate several options to our personal dilemma. Please send high quality alternatives to choose from.
Yes, I research and review as much as possible. I have traveled a lot and checked each bed that was a delight to sleep on in a hotel!
My favorite story was re sleep number bed....I got up to find my bed at zero. I couldn't figure it out.
A friend working at the hotel explained the beds were back to back in some rooms and the folks in the next room affected our sleep numbers!
Sadly, our best friends just bought the alternative to their Stearns and Foster...perhaps the Foxbridge.
I had read the bad reviews on S&F and thought they were different companies pushing their own agendas.

We have a number of high quality options.
An all latex mattress is one option.
Latex is extremely durable and plenty comfy.
