Replacing a 26 yo Simmons Beautyrest Mattress.

I found you when doing a google search regarding my old Simmons Beautyrest mattress.  I wrote Simmons, but they could not give me a good answer.  I do not know if you can.  

 

Around 26 years ago my wife and I purchased a Simmons Beautyrest Eminence Mattress.  We love the mattress but think it is time to replace it.  It certainly does not owe us anything.  We are very nervous about getting a new mattress.  My wife has had two back surgeries and I have back problems as well.  Whenever we stay at hotels or at friends homes etc our backs ache.  We would like to replace our mattress and box spring with the closest thing we can find.  Here is the information we have regarding our mattress and box spring set.  

The top of the mattress says Beautyrest, The Do Not Disturb Mattress, Pocketed Coil Springs Respond Individually, Eminence.

 

The tag is difficult to read but this is what I can make out:

Can you please tell me if you sell a mattress that is similar to this one or at least tell us what characteristics to look for in a new mattress.  Is our old mattress firm etc.

No one makes a mattress like that anymore…not even Simmons, which isn’t really Simmons anymore.

The mattress industry, on a whole, has gone bad. All of the name brands that you could once trust to make quality products have been sold to investors who are now only interested in profits and not quality.

 

You say you love your mattress. If that is still true, you don’t need a new one.

Replacing a perfectly good mattress with one that is made today by those name brands will result in disappointment and pain.

 

Your list of components did not include memory foam, which is what is used by those name brands for the express purpose of making a mattress that requires frequent replacing.

 

My advice is to keep what you have until you are no longer sleeping well.

My recommendation for a new mattress is the Natura Greenspring, which uses the same, but stronger, coil unit that’s in your Beautyrest.

And like your Beautyrest, has no memory foam in it.

My wife and I have had their ultra plush model for 10 years, and it’s still in like new condition, despite each of us weighing more than 200 lbs.

I, too, have a very bad back, but sleep and wake without back pain.

 

If you insist upon buying a new mattress, that would be the one.

It’s not as soft as it sounds.
