Hi Pete,
We're replacing a Simmons Beautyrest World Class Mattress.
It was a great for the first three years.
Now, it's depressed on my sides of the mattress and exacerbating my back issues (herniated disc).
I'm 180 pounds and my wife is about 130 pounds and we're both side sleepers and about 40 years old.
We rotate the mattress every six weeks.
Before that, we had a Simmons Beautyrest that lasted comfortably for over 10 years.
We ordered a Serta mattress for a guest bed and I find it very uncomfortable, so I've avoided that brand since.
I've been told the closest approximation of our current mattress is the Simmons Beautyrest Silver.
On your site I found the Natura of Canada Greenspring as a possible replacement.
We use a mattress protector and take good care of our mattresses, so I'd rather have a quality mattress that maintains its form for 10 years, even if it is more expensive...which ends up being less expensive than having to replace a mattress every three years and living with the discomfort of a cheap mattress.
What would you recommend for us?
Thanks, Nick
Good Morning Nick,
What causes your mattresses to need such frequent replacing is the memory foam upholstery, which is purposefully designed to do just that. What you’re looking for is a mattress that uses the same coil system as a Simmons Beautyrest with much higher quality upholstery…a mattress that will last a very long time.
We recommend one of the Natura of Canada Greenspring Mattresses.
My wife and I have been sleeping on the Ultra Plush model for the past nine years.
We each weigh more than 200 lbs., and our mattress is still in great condition.
Here’s a link to that mattress, showing specifications and prices.

A waterproof mattress protector will extend the life of any mattress, keeping it clean and dry.
