Hi Pete,
Thank you for a very informative website/blog!
I'm mattress shopping, after sleeping for many years on a very old Serta Luxury Firm mattress.
We are long overdue for replacing this very old mattress.
In trying the store mattresses, he prefers cushier and I prefer firmer.
I am 5' 7" and 160 lbs. Hubby is 5' 11" and 195 lbs.
He has shoulder pain, sleeps very hot & restlessly.
I have occasional hip pain, am a side and back sleeper and tend to be cold.
I'm also interested in knowing of there is a comfort difference between the 8" & 5" foundation.
Thank you, Karen
Hi Karen,
The 8” vs. 5” is only a height choice for the foundation.
Neither the feel nor longevity of the mattress is affected by whichever you choose.
The only thing affected, is the overall height of the bed.
It's all about the ease of getting in and out of bed....and not at all about the comfort of the mattress.
I'm recommending the Wolf Tulah Luxury Plush Eurotop Mattress as a good replacement for your old Serta
The heavy gauge individually pocketed coils provide firm contouring support.
The Upholstery are CertiPur Certified Safe...No Off Gassing!
While designated as "Plush" it is firmer than it sounds...feeling more like a Luxury Firm.
I believe this will strike the right balance that will satisfy both of you.
UPDATE!…This Wolf Mattress Has Been Discontinued.
We are pleased to offer you a higher quality mattress from Eco-Terra.
This mattress provides the same support with an upgrade in upholstery.
The higher quality upholstery provides greater comfort and longevity.
