Does a mattress bunch up on an adjustable bed base?

I really appreciated your response last month about problems we are having with mattresses buckling on a RIZE adjustable bed.  It looks like the retailer won't take the base back but will refund the price of the mattress, if we want to purchase from another retailer.  The mattress is a Serta Serene Sky Plush Tight Top.  

I'm not sure if it's a great mattress to begin with.  

Do you think the latex topper you sell make this more comfortable?  

And does it bunch up when put on an adjustable bed?

I need to do what I can to make her more comfortable.

Hi Meredith,

An adjustable bed may solve problems like, Gerd and Sleep Apnea, by raising the head of the bed, but create other problems.

The mattress buckles and bunches, and wears prematurely at the point where it bends. 

More importantly, the spine’s natural alignment is lost.

 

The best way to get the lift you want without all of the problems that is created by it, is to leave the bed flat and tilt the entire unit, using bed risers…like the ones shown here:

Even back in the day when it wasn’t possible to buy a bad mattress, Serta was on the low end of the quality scale. Today, they are the worst of the bad.

You could try a latex topper on that Serta, but I’d recommend flipping the mattress over to the non-memory foam side before adding it. But I consider this approach to be "throwing good money after bad".
