I have been looking for a mattress for few months!
It is so hard for most of us trying to do research and our everyday chores. I would greatly appreciate it!
I have been reading your site today and just noticed you mentioned Natura of Canada Greenspring.
I noticed plush, firm & ultra plush. I believe, you said you have that one at your home?
However, you may suggest something totally different and may not.
I am a petite female, 5ft and 108 lbs.
The mattress is just for me, I have pinched nerve in my neck, scoliosis & bad osteoarthritis.
I do not even need to discuss memory foam.
Other than a mattress, I don’t know if I need a foundation?
I have a box spring now for another brand mattress which I don’t know if it can even be used, probably not.
I have a very good expensive head board, very nice size piece of furniture for the foot board, & the wood furniture is also on the sides, with 3 slats(one at head, middle,& foot) also with one leg in the middle that touches the floor.
All of this makes up my total bed frame. Is it possible that a foundation would fit within this structure?
If not, what would work? My suite is only a few years old.
I am in pain every day and night. Also, much older now, thus, I am past wanting to order.
Good Morning Mrs. Stephens,
Your bed does require a foundation for the mattress.
The box spring you have is likely to be in good enough condition to reuse.
Based on your physical size, it isn’t likely to have worn.
The Natura of Canada Greenspring mattresses are the best we carry.
But, they are more mattress than someone your size needs.
The Wolf Hybrid Tulah Plush Eurotop Mattress is what I would recommend.
Wanted your recommendation for a mattress and latex topper.
I weight 230, the wife is 120. Both of us sleep side and stomach sleepers.
I have back issues. My wife has hip issues.
We do seem to like the Westin Heavenly bed when we stay there, but see that they have little longevity.
What makes the Heavenly Bed so comfortable is the individually pocketed coils, which contour to the shape of the body, maintaining the natural alignment of the spine. The steel from which the coils are made is not tempered, so they don’t hold up very well. The upholstery materials aren’t that great, either...in terms of longevity.
My recommendation is for the Natura of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush.
The coils system is the same as in the Heavenly Bed...with a higher coil count and double tempered steel. The upholstery is natural Talalay Latex, which is far superior to the upholstery materials used in the Heavenly Bed.
I am trying to decide between the Plush tight top or Medium Firm tight top Simmons Beautyrest.
I am a 110 lb., side/stomach sleeper, and my husband is 6', 200lb. side/back sleeper.
We do not want any memory foam, if possible as we both sleep hot.
From my research it seems both these models have memory foam.
There doesn't seem to be any other models for us to try out, that doesn't have memory foam.
I understand, from reading your blogs, that a latex topper will keep us from sleeping hot.
Does that really work?!
You bet it works...works well and lasts a long time.
Latex is the only product that you can buy, that more than pays for itself...as it also extends the life of the mattress.
The latex topper insulates you from the memory foam in the mattress, and allows you to sleep cooler.
When choosing a Simmons Beautyrest, it's imperative that you DO NOT opt for a "plush" model.
It will lose its shape quickly under a large man, as the gauge of wire used to make the coils of their plush models, is much thinner than the gauge of wire used to make the coils in their firmer models.
Go for the medium firm and add the soft latex topper.
What we recommend is the Simmons Beautyrest in Medium Firm.
Add to that, a Suite Sleep 2" Soft Organic Latex Topper.
Hi Pete, I bought a Saatva luxury firm mattress and it is way too firm. I have arthritis in my hip and need support and am a side sleeper. Which mattress topper should I use to soften it?? Thanks, Cynthia...
