Hi Pete,
I've just be declined by Sealy for a replacement mattress. The one I bought last year is sagging.
The sag is deep enough, but there is a slight, barely perceptible perspiration stain on the mattress.
It was for this reason, I was denied an exchange.
The sag is bad enough that it is causing me back pain. So now I have to buy a new mattress.
Am I going to run into this with every mattress? It sounds, to me, like an excuse to not service their customers.
I can't afford to replace these every year. What's your best advice?
Thanks William.
Hi William,
The "Stain Clause" is part of every mattress' warranty.
It's not an excuse, but a legitimate reason.
When moisture seeps into the upholstery layers, they break down...lose their resiliency and begin to sag.
Your Sealy mattress is upholstered with memory foam, which isn't very resilient to begin with.
The very first thing is to avoid mattresses upholstered with memory foam.
It is extremely important for you to use a waterproof mattress protector.
We carry a couple of very high quality organic cotton waterproof mattress protectors.
Shown here:
Everyone should use a waterproof mattress protector on every mattress in the home.
It's the best way to protect your investment. You wouldn't be in this position today, had you been using one.
We also have available, excellent quality mattresses at reasonable prices.
Here are a couple of links to those. You only need to replace the mattress.
Your foundation does not need to be replaced, as it is only a year old.
UPS Shipping is free and there's no sales tax.
Thanks, Pete
VERY IMPORTANT:
Keeping your mattress clean and dry will increase its longevity.
We recommend our Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Protector.
