Back Pain with a Hybrid Mattress from a Local Store.

Hi Pete,

I have been shopping for a mattress. 

I had one for around 10 years that was Kingsdown firm pillowtop and it was fantastic. 

When it was finally worn out, I decided to replace it. So, I went to a local mattress store.  

After explaining that my past experiences with foam mattresses were terrible and I always woke up in pain, the guy sold me a hybrid convincing me that the coils would make the foam more comfortable. 

Unfortunately, I bought it. Now, a month into it, I wake up in pain every day.  

I went back to the store to try to exchange it and they told me that no one even makes mattresses without foam, and that they don't sell any. 

Now I'm on your website and I see that you have a few. 

I want to return the hybrid and get one from you. Can you advise me on what to purchase? 

I like a soft bed with some support. 

My son has a Sealy Posturepedic Grass leaf firm mattress, which we purchased from you, and it's great.

While true, that all mattresses have foam, there are good foams and bad foams.

Memory foam is the bad foam. In fact, it’s the worst upholstery material ever invented.

Unfortunately, for that store, every mattress in their stores in upholstered with memory foam.

 

Polyurethane foam had been the standard foam used from around 1970 until about 10 years ago. 

The best of the foams is latex. That has been true for the last 100 yrs.
