Hi Pete,
We, recently, purchased a gel memory foam mattress.
I've been getting a headache every day since this mattress was delivered.
The people at the store, where I bought it, tell me it's normal and will dissipate.
Is this common? Is this something that will go away? Is it something I should be worried about?
Thanks, Brad
Hi Brad,
You wouldn't be asking, if you weren't worried....as you should be.
Memory foam consists of 61 different chemicals. Several of those chemicals are toxic.
A couple of the worst are formaldehyde and benzene.
Memory foam off gasses the toxic chemicals, from which it's made.
This off gassing attacks your respiratory system.
Headache is the most common negative side effect.
Bleeding sinuses is about the worst that I've heard.
Memory foam negatively affects every living being in your home.
Get rid of it.
Not only is it a health hazard, it's the worst quality upholstery material ever invented.
Memory foam is temperature sensitive, absorbing your body heat and reflecting that heat back to you.
Memory foam softens as it warms from your body heat, allowing you to sink into it.
Memory foam isn't very resilient to begin with.
It only takes a few months before you are sinking too far, causing back pain from a misaligned spine.
The diabolical thing about memory foam, is that it returns to its original shape when you get out of bed.
It almost never meets the criteria needed for an exchange under the terms of the warranty.
You couldn't have made a worse choice.
We recommend using a waterproof mattress protector with every mattress.
Keeping the upholstery materials clean and dry will extend the life of the mattress.
Thanks, Pete
