Hi Pete,
I found your website while doing some research for replacing our current mattress.
Right now, we have a Simmons Beautyrest pillowtop that's 3 years old and it has two big indentations.
It is starting to give me more and more back pain.
I tend to like the softer/plush mattress and my husband doesn't care if it's like a rock or a cloud.
I'm 5'5'', 135 lbs and my husband is 6'2'', 210 lbs.
After reading the majority of your blog and other sites, I realize that memory foam isn't the answer.
I would be interested to know what your recommendation would be for the kind of mattress we should look at.
Thank you, Natalie
Hi Natalie,
If you would like the best you can buy, let me suggest the mattress we sleep on, at home.
My wife and I are large people, and I have a variety of back problems.
Our mattress is more than 4.5 years old, and doesn't have so much as the slightest dent in it.
And, I sleep and wake with no back pain, despite my herniated, bulging discs, a DDD.
That mattress is The Natura of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush.
This mattress uses an individually pocketed coil unit, much like the coil system in the Simmons Beautyrest.
The Greenspring coils are made of double tempered steel.
The Beautyrest coils are not tempered, at all.
What's more the upholstery in the Greenspring mattresses, is Natural Talalay Latex...NO Memory Foam.
The difference in the quality between this Greenspring mattress and your Beautyrest, is like night and day.
Here is a link to that mattress:
You'll delight in the comfort of natural wool, latex and plant-based foam while you enjoy the support of our 5-zoned coil unit.
