I have a couple of tips and solutions for you.
Let's start with the mattress...one that uses an individually pocketed coil mattress, which provides the best degree of motion reduction....like the coil system used at most hotels.
This will address your DDD by giving your back the proper support it needs.

I, too, am a light sleeper. One of the things that has helped me, greatly, is to block out all sounds.
I buy the child size round opaque ear plugs that you can buy at any pharmacy.
The depth and length of sleep I get when using them, is more than I would have thought.
Also, take some melatonin at bedtime. It helps.
