The mattress is on the low end of firm and feels comfortable while sleeping.

I'm sorry you spent so much money on such a bad mattress.
We once had been a Sealy/S&F retailer.
We dropped both lines when Tempurpedic bought them, in 2013.
S&F had been "The Cadillac of the Industry" for many decades prior to this.
Today, with all of the memory foam used to upholster those mattresses, they are now nothing more than expensive junk.
And, your adjustable bed base is good for nothing more than sitting up.
It has no therapeutic value, and is counter productive when it comes to dealing with sciatica.
There's little point in trying to make a silk purse from a sow's ear.
Return it for a refund, if you can. Exchange it if you must.
That mattress is worthless...and especially so to anyone with disc related back problems.
Memory foam is the absolute worst upholstery material ever invented....a poor quality product that also off gasses the toxic chemicals from which it's made.
If you are stuck with an exchange only, send me the link to the store from where your bought it.
I'll help you pick out something better.
Also, sleep with the mattress flat.
The adjustability of the base does nothing to maintain your spine's natural alignment.
Spinal alignment is key to relieving sciatica pain.
VERY IMPORTANT:
Keeping your mattress clean and dry will increase longevity.
