Hip, Back Pain from a 'diy' Mattress.

Hi Pete,

I have three mattresses I switch depending on my location.

 

1 - I have a 'diy' mattress in a travel trailer I use over winter (3 mo last winter and abt 2 now. 

It consists of hard board base over a crawl space, then 5" dense foam, 2" med dense and then 3" soft latex. 

I call it diy because it's what I came up with to fit the available space. It would be like a short full size.

 

2 - Over summer, I alternately sleep on a select comfort (firm setting).

 

3 - I also sometime go to a firm sealy posturepedic.

 

I've tried combinations of the latex, a 2" memory foam and a 2" gel pad on each.

But, it all adds up to the same frustration. 

On any of them, I wake every few hours with pressure pain at the hip joint.

I also get pain shooting from my back, down the outside of my thigh, to my knee on the side I'm lying on.

 

I'm a side sleeper, 5'4" and moderately overweight. What suggestions do you have?

You have worn discs in the small of your back.

The vertebrae are pinching a nerve, which is sending pain around your hip and down your leg.
