I'm not sure if you're aware, but Simmons, along with all of the other major brands, have been sold to investors.
Memory foam is what they use to recoup their investment and turn a profit....casing mattresses to require frequent replacing.
The Black Series is their strongest coil unit, using a triple strand wire for every other row of coils.
This is where I choose one to recommend for people in excess of 200 lbs.
The Platinum Series is more appropriate for people of your sizes.
The reason why yours failed, is of course, due to the memory foam, which is the main upholstery material for every Beautyrest made today.
My wife and I are larger people...about 225 lbs. each.
We home tested a Luxury Firm Black Beautyrest. We had it for 4 years and our son and his wife have had it for nearly 4 years.
That mattress is, still, in like new condition.
The reason why it has held up so well, is because we added a 2" Soft Latex Topper to it from the beginning.
Latex is and has been the best upholstery material for the last 100 years, while memory foam has proven to be the worst, over it's 15 year history.
Latex is a natural material...not a 61 chemical, temperature sensitive material like memory foam.
The latex insulates you from the memory foam and absorbs all of your body weight...causing the mattress to remain like new for many years.
When we recommend a Simmons Beautyrest for adults, we also recommend a latex topper to go with it.
Otherwise the mattress will, simply, wear too quickly.
