Hi Pete,
I've been reading through your blogs and information on your site - many thanks for providing this to the public and your customers.
I'd like to request your help on how we can best improve our sleep, comfort, and resolve our mattress problems and mornings waking with pain. Approx. 1.5 years ago we purchased a Tempurpedic mattress. (I can't recall the exact model, but believe it's one of the "plush" versions).
Yes, it felt great in the showroom and we fell for the misinformation of all the "technology and memory foam" BS.
It did feel good for maybe the first 6 months, after which the memory foam lost it's density and loft to where we started sinking deep into it.
The nights became tossing & turning to get comfortable, and waking with upper and middle back pain, and lower back and shoulder pain.
We are both back / side sleepers.
I, later, purchased a 2" memory foam topper from Serta that was supposed to be high quality and would last better than most.
However, it proved to be the same story - helpful at first, but within 6 months, we're back with the restless nights and painful mornings.
We're now looking to replace the memory foam topper with a latex one.
What we're unsure of is which size (2" or 3") and firmness (soft, medium, firm) would be best for us and our situation.
I initially thought of going for a 3" firm, but after reading some of your information it sounds as that may be overcompensation.
Note that we feel our mattress is significantly too soft and non-supportive. I am also not sure if this Tempurpedic can be flipped.
Hoping you can advise on the best solution to our problem so we can finally have the sleep we want and need!
Looking forward to your insight.
Thanks, Nate
Hi Nate,
Memory foam is terrible when it comes to longevity, quickly losing what little comfort it has.
Adding a latex topper will not compensate for the lack of support offered by your mattress.
Latex is nothing like memory foam. It isn't temperature sensitive and doesn't allow you to sink.
Despite what it says, flip the mattress over and add an EverEden Pure, All Natural, 2" of Soft Talalay Latex Topper.
A topper, you buy for surface comfort. The mattress is supposed to provide the support.
Once you flip the mattress and add the latex topper, you'll have both...support and comfort...everything your body needs for a good night's sleep.
What's more, this high quality latex remains like new for many years, sleeps cool, and greatly extends the life of your mattress.
Here's a link to that latex topper:

Soften the surface of a too firm mattress. Insulate yourself from the memory foam in your mattress to Sleep Cool. Extend the comfort life of your mattress.

ALSO IMPORTANT:
I suggest using a waterproof mattress protector with every mattress.
Keeping your mattress clean and dry will greatly extend the life and loft of the upholstery materials inside. Ours sleep cool and make NO Noise.
