Hi Pete,
I am so glad to have found your website -it's so very helpful.
To me it seems that buying a mattress has almost become like buying a car.
There's lots of choice, super confusing, salesmen that smile too much, and you kind of have to be on your guard. Ha!
My husband and I need a new mattress and want to get a good one.
Your warnings about memory foam confirmed my suspicions.
Our current mattress is over 20 years old , (yes, we aren't proud of that), and I truly want to find a mattress I love as much as we've loved this one.
I believe it's a Sealy Posturepedic, the best we could afford back in 1995.
I think that after reading up, I'm interested in the Simmons Beautyrest Black
But, it's very hard to understand the differences between the models.
We are wanting to go with the less firm rather than more firm, for comfort...not sure if the latex topper sort of eliminates that concern.
After reading your info it sounds like we should certainly get a latex topper.
I never would've known of that without your site - and the waterproof cover.
So here's a rundown of our situation and hopefully it'll help you make a recommendation?
We are older - 55 and 65 - and weigh 175, 220.
No major health issues, but maybe just a little 'rusty' backs and necks.
Looking for great support, just not uber firm.
We need a King size.
Should we go with an all Latex instead of the Simmons?
We are not wanting a platform bed - more the traditional type, mattress set.
Would be nice to not have to flip, but if the bed is good, we would okay with that.
Do you think we should go with all latex?
If so, do those also have the box spring/bed frames?
Does the white glove delivery include the haul away of our old mattress?
(I feel sorry for them, but can't wait for it to be hauled away. :-)
Generally, how long does it take between ordering and delivery?
What forms a payment do you accept?
When is a good time to call? Regular biz hours?
We are in the central time zone - outside of Kansas City
Thank you so much for your help and so glad you have your business to help all of us get a better nights sleep!

Good Morning to you both,
At your ages, it would be a mistake to brush off what you’re feeling as “a rusty back”.
The discs have worn, as they tend to do with age. Thankfully, it not a major problem.
For that reason, an all latex mattress would not be appropriate, as it does not provide the push back support your spine now requires.
With one of you over 200 lbs. the Simmons Beautyrest Black and Latex Topper combination is the perfect solution.
To satisfy all your needs and desires, the specific mattress to get is the Desiree in Luxury Firm.

The topper to add to that is the EverEden Pure All Natural 2” Soft Talalay Latex.

I recommend the low profile boxspring to go with this.
Otherwise, the bed will be too high...unless you want that.
The low profile boxspring will make it easier to get in and out of bed.
The latex topper provides the surface softness you want, that remains like new for many years. We use the same one at home. It’s several years old and we are, both, over 200 lbs.
The latex topper arrives via UPS.
The mattress is firm, but not hard.
The mattress comes with white glove delivery, which includes removal of the old mattress.
The Waterproof Mattress Protector covers both, the topper and mattress.
Of all the ones I’ve come across, it’s the best.
Natural cotton infused with silver, which sleeps cool.
It doesn’t make noise...that crinkly sound that so many make.
It’s generously cut and won’t shrink when washed in hot water.
It, too, arrives via UPS...and would be the first item to arrive.
The mattress and the topper take about 2 weeks.
Delivery is free and there’s no sales tax.
I’m on the East Coast. My phone hours are 9-5 eastern time.
I’m out running errands, from time to time, so if you don’t catch me, leave a message and I’ll call you back.
Thanks, Pete

Perfect. Thank you for your great info!
Sounds like we'd order:
King size set - Simmons Beautyrest Black Desiree, Luxury Firm
The 2" Latex Topper
The waterproof cover
Two last questions - I was a little unclear on the boxspring recommendation.
Is that something we select when ordering the mattress set?
I think we'd certainly take your recommendation - we don't want it too low, or too high.
And finally, our current bed frame has seen better days. I think we need a new one.
Any recommendations there?
Thanks, Diane
Hi Diane,
Measure the height of your bed from the floor to the top.
This mattress measures 13" and 2" for the topper.
A bed frame is 7" and the boxspring come 9" or 5.5"
Compare that to what you have, and try to match it up if you're happy with your current height.
Most people prefer to get in and out of bed easily.
Since your mattress is so old, it isn't likely to be as thick as most of today's mattresses.
So, there's another step you can take to lower it.
Since you need a new bed frame, they make those in low profile, as well.
A standard frame is about 7" high.
A low profile is more like 3" high.
Most stores that sell mattresses carry both.
Of course, there is almost no room to store anything under a low profile frame.
If you are sticking with a standard frame, I recommend "The Instamatic", made by Leggitt & Platt.
It'll be the last frame you'll ever need to buy.
The model number is 777...R or G.
The "R" means it has the wide rollers.
The "G" means it has Glides instead of wheels.
Most stores will have it with the wheels.
The glides are harder to find.
And, lastly, Simmons will provide you with a new frame.
It won't be an Instamatic, which usually runs a little over $100, but it will be adequate.
It is available standard and low profile...and it's included with the price of the mattress.
The delivery people will set it up when the deliver the mattress.
(What the delivery guys won't do, is unbolt it from a headboard, bolt the new one to a headboard, or take away the old frame)
You'll need to call me to order that mattress.
You may as well order everything over the phone.
ALSO IMPORTANT:
I suggest using a waterproof mattress protector with every mattress.
Keeping your mattress clean and dry will greatly extend the life and loft of the upholstery materials inside. Ours sleep cool and make NO Noise.
