Hi Pete,
First, many thanks for sharing your advice and vast expertise here—it’s a rare and much appreciated service.
I’m a 60 y/o female, 5’8”, 130 lbs, looking for something for a twin platform.
I’m replacing a 5 y/o Sealy Posturepedic in Plush that is now causing some mild lower back & neck pain.
Reading through your Q&A’s, I’ve narrowed down to either:
1) Simmons Beautyrest World Class in Luxury Firm + a 2” soft Talalay topper (read that this line helps w/spine alignment and I also like the low heights) or
2) One of your latex models, also nice low heights on these but have heard they’re quite heavy. Would someone my size have trouble managing?
About the Pure LatexBLISS (Pamper, Nature, Nutrition): Is it a natural substance and does it affect wear-ability of the layers?
The EverEden: 6” w/2” glued or unglued topper.
I expect that leaving the topper unglued would make sense since it could easily be replaced if/when needed. b
But, would this make a difference as to how this combo feels and would it slide around/make the bed look messy?
I’m a side sleeper and have usually done well with medium feel mattresses but have read that as we age we might need something a bit softer.
A softer top is to address pressure points that need more comfortable support.
Seems that any of the above would provide this but would appreciate your advice as to what you think might do the best job given my circumstances.
Thanks very much, Andrea
Hi Andrea,
As of this month, the World Class Series Beautyrests have been discontinued.
They have been replaced with their Platinum Series, which are upholstered with more memory foam.
Between the added memory foam and the non-tempered steel coils...even with a latex topper, I'm no longer recommending that mattress.
We carry a line of pocketed coil mattresses, Natura Greenspring, which use a double tempered steel coil and are upholstered with natural Talalay Latex.
These are far superior in quality to the Simmons Beautyrest...and what we sleep on at home.
There are 5 choices of comfort in the line, and here is the link to those:

We have the 8" EverEden plush top, unglued, on a platform bed at home. Our guests love the way it sleeps.
I do too, as this is my escape to mattress when necessary.
The "unglued" option is to keep the mattress 100% chemical free. The top layer does not shift.
They are layers of 100% natural rubber and they grip each other very well.
The queen was a bit heavy, but manageable. The twin will be considerably lighter in weight.
The latex, in the EverEden mattresses, is 100% all natural.
The latex, in the pure Bliss line, (Now Called Talalay Global), is 30% natural and 70% synthetic.
Not only is the latex better, from EverEden, it's also less expensive...making them the best buy in latex mattresses.

Frankly, Andrea, you can't go wrong with either choice.
