An EverEden Latex Topper to put on a Tempurpedic Mattress.

Yes. We've done that with Tempurpedic owners for years.

The best way to do this, is to first, flip the mattress, then add the latex topper.

The underside of the mattress is high density poly foam, and much firmer than the memory foam.

The mattress will then provide firmer support for you back.

The latex topper provides the surface comfort for a deep night's sleep.

Latex is not temperature sensitive, as is memory foam. Latex sleeps cool and allows you to change position easily.

I am in the market for a new mattress and have been researching for weeks and going to stores to test mattresses out as well.  

I am convinced not to get a pillow top and to get something more towards the firm side of the scale.  

My wife and I are side/stomach sleepers.  She has sciatica and had surgery on it a few years ago.  We recently had our first child.  

Her hips bother her more now as well.  Out of all the mattresses I have been looking at, I'm leaning towards a Simmons Beautyrest Black mattress.  

Looking for one in a king size.  I am overwhelmed by each stores variations in names and comfort levels for the same line of mattresses.  

The Desiree luxury firm sounds like the way to go from reading your blogs.

Hi Dan,

If you have a platform bed, you don't need a boxspring. 

You do not want to use an old boxspring with a new mattress, as It will automatically void the warranty of the mattress.

A latex topper does a number of things. It insulates you from the memory foam in the mattress, so that you sleep cool.

Latex is extremely resilient and will absorb much of your body weight. This causes the mattress to latex a lot longer than it would without it.

And last, but certainly not least, is the surface comfort it provides. Your wife's hips will than you for that.

A softer top is to address pressure points that need more comfortable support.

As of this month, the World Class Series Beautyrests have been discontinued.

They have been replaced with their Platinum Series, which are upholstered with more memory foam.

Between the added memory foam and the non-tempered steel coils...even with a latex topper, I'm no longer recommending that mattress.

We have the 8" EverEden plush top, unglued, on a platform bed at home. Our guests love the way it sleeps. 

I do too, as this is my escape to mattress when necessary.

The "unglued" option is to keep the mattress 100% chemical free. The top layer does not shift. 

They are layers of 100% natural rubber and they grip each other very well.

The queen was a bit heavy, but manageable. The twin will be considerably lighter in weight.

The latex, in the EverEden mattresses, is 100% all natural. 

The latex, in the pure Bliss line, (Now Called Talalay Global), is 30% natural and 70% synthetic.

Simmons Beautyrest World Class Westbury II Mattress.

Hi Larry,

You're just a little too late. Simmons, just recently, discontinued the World Class Series.

The Platinum Series that replaced it, is loaded with memory foam, which is the worst upholstery material on the planet.

It's purpose is to wear quickly...leaving you in a position of having to replace it every couple of years.

The diabolical part of all that, is when you get off of the mattress, the memory foam returns enough, that you will not prevail in a warranty claim.

However, I do have something for you...something a whole lot better.

My friend delivers those mattresses nationally. So, you'll want to shop for price. His are pretty good.

Given your condition and your experience with that mattress, I didn't see the need to steer you away from that one.

That said, I too, have a herniated disc. In fact, I hit the trifecta with DDD and bulging discs rounding out the field.

In most cases, nearly every mattress with have a different model name from one store to the other.

In the case of the Simmons Beautyrest Black Series, the model names are the same at every store...except Macy's.

Their Reyna Luxury Firm is, in fact, the same as the Desiree Luxury Firm.

We suggest softening the surface of that mattress with an EverEden latex topper.

Lots of people have objected to buying a separate latex topper to use with a new mattress...saying that they shouldn't have to.

I agree. You shouldn't have to. If Simmons Beautyrests weren't filled with memory foam, you wouldn't have to.

The fact is that the memory foam is very quick to wear and sleeps hot. The latex topper sleeps cool and retard the wear of the mattress.

If you're buying a Simmons Beautyrest, the addition of a latex topper is imperative for both, long term comfort and longevity.

 

However, there is an alternative mattress that requires no separate purchase of a latex topper for the sake of wear.

The mattress my wife and I have at home is the Natura Greenspring, which uses the same pre-compressed, barrell shape, individually pocketed coils that Simmons uses.

The differences are: The Natura Greenspring coils are twice tempered for greater durability. The Simmons coils are made of raw steel and not tempered at all.

And, the upholstery in the Natura Greespring is natural Talalay latex...and contains NO Memory Foam.

Most of what Sealy now makes, isn't anywhere near the quality of that old Sealy Posturepedic Strathmore.

Ever since Tempurpedic bought Sealy in 2013, almost everything they now make is loaded with memory foam...which is purposefully desigened to need frequent replacing.

There are, however, a few models at the lower end of the Posturepedic line that are made, pretty much the same, as your Strathmore.

These would also be the Sealy Posturepedic mattresses that you'd find in most hotels that feature Sealy Posturepedic....without having to worry about the memory foam.

If shopping locally, you'll be shopping by level. Sealy identifies these mattresses as Level A-3 to their retails.

This is inside information and you will, likely, need to speak to the store manager to find someone who knew what you're talking about.

The funny thing about mattresses, is that for most, the more you pay the less you get.

A good, old fashioned two-sided mattress with no memory foam in it...is still reasonably inexpensive to make and is among the least expensive on the market.

Such a mattress would be the last mattress you would ever need to buy, under those circumstances.

An All Latex Mattress to Relieve Shoulder Pain.

I have an 8 year old Simmons Beautyrest, pocket springs mattress, firm or extra firm. It has a one inch memory foam topper and another 1.5 inch mixed memory/feather topper on top of that. 

I have sciatica/hip pain. A couple of years ago, I was in an accident that broke my collar bone and damaged my shoulder. 

Now, I can't get comfortable at night. If I sleep on my back, my back and hip hurt. If I sleep on my shoulder, my shoulder hurts. 

Besides that, I have to rotate the mattress 90 degrees (its a king) every time I change the sheets or I get a "divot" on the side I sleep on. 

I am considering a new mattress. I used to sleep on a Tempurpedic but found it too hard at first and then too giving as the night progressed (I am 6.2, 235lbs). 

Is there an "all-latex" mattress that would give me enough support for my weight yet enough give so I could occasionally sleep on my shoulder? And what firmness would be best?

Forever Foundation and a Two Sided Mattresses and a Latex topper for support comfort and longevity under large people
