Hi John,

We do have another brand, Natura of Canada, who makes an individually pocketed coil mattress.

Their Natura Greenspring line offer the same pre-compressed barrel shaped coil as the Simmons Beautyrest.

The differences are: 1) It has a higher coil count than the World Class, 2) The steel is double tempered, and 3) The upholstery is natural Talalay Latex...and they contain NO MEMORY FOAM.

The most comfortable of the 5 models are, the Plush Eurotop and the Ultra Plush models.

My wife and I sleep on the ultra plush.

The materials in the Natura Greenspring are higher quality and density than the Simmons Beautyrest and have a more resilient feel.

In other words, the softer models are not as soft as they sound.

These are a perfect choice for larger people who are looking for a long lasting mattress.

 

The memory foam in the Simmons Beautyrest is not toxic, as it is with most other mattresses.

It's quite possible that all you need is a good quality latex topper to make the mattress you already have, comfortable.

A Luxury Firm Simmons Beautyrest Mattress and a Soft Talalay Latex Topper.

I found your website while doing research for a new mattress… great information, thank you so much! 

My wife and I are both in our early 50’s and in pretty good physical shape in general. 

I’m 5’8” tall weighing around 175 lbs. and Michele is 5’4” weighing around 105 lbs. 

We both sleep primarily on our backs. 

Michele struggles from neck and shoulder pain and I struggle with occasional bouts of RLS and generally restless sleep with a lot of tossing and turning. 

Because of my tossing-and-turning, having a mattress that controls movement would be helpful to my wife. 

We currently sleep on a 10 year old, non pillow-top Stearns and Foster with a worn out memory foam topper of some sort that we’ve added.

Hi Jeff,

While the two sided mattresses are strong, the don't address the motion transfer issue.

For that, you will need a pocketed coil mattress, where each coil moves independently from the others. This also reduces pressure points, causing you to toss and turn a lot less.

Natura Greenspring Liberty Mattresses, Ultra Plush or Plush Eurotop?

After looking at the one you have, (Ultra Plush), and the one I like, (Plush Eurotop), it looks like yours is the same except it has 1 inch of convoluted talalay and 1 inch of natural talalay. 

The other one has two inches of natural talalay. What does convoluted talalay mean and why did u choose that one? 

 

Does your wife like this bed better than the Ansleigh?

 

My beautiful bed is no longer perfect. I couldn't get the dirt off of it. When we were moving it it got dragged in the gravel a little because it's so cumbersome and heavy. 

Then, the movers ripped the handles when it got moved out of the storage unit because they were not being careful. 

They carried it from the garage instead of parking in front of my door where the distance would have been half. It's prob not a good idea to be moving these beds around tho.

What a shame! It really was unnecessary.

Places, like U-Haul, have packing materials for mattresses, that would have made storing and moving a mattress damage free.

 

The convoluted latex is cut in egg crater form.

The result is supposed to be softer.

The Plush Euro has an inch of latex more than the Ultra Plush.

With the extra latex topper...which you already have, my wife likes this mattress more than any other we've tested at home. We both sleep quite well.

 

Over the years, I've been doing testing a various mattresses for durability. 

We are, both, large people and make a good test case.

The quality of this one is greater than any other, and the comfort is also good.

So, I think we're done testing and will keep this one.

 

Over the last couple of years that we've been selling the Natura Greenspring, I've had only one complaint...that the Plush model was too firm, which was easily fixed with a soft latex topper.

We've sold only one in firm. All the others have been the Ultra Plush or the Plush EuroTop.

Everyone has been happy with their mattresses.

The support and longevity are excellent...with comfort being the only choice.

Looking to replace a sagging mattress with a Simmons Beautyrest Recharge.

My husband and I have been sleeping on a pillow-top mattress for far too long - it's been over a decade and it now sags in the middle.

In 2012, we purchased a mattress from you for our daughter.  He and I both find it quite comfortable to lay on.  

It's much firmer than our mattress and would provide a great deal more support than what we have been living with.  

The mattress label says Simmons BeautyRest Recharge Classic.  I can't seem to find a "Classic" version of the BeautyRest line at their site or yours. 

Could you recommend what mattress would be closest to this one? 

If it helps, my husband is 6'2" and weighs about 215, I'm 5' and weigh about 125 - we both move around a fair amount when we sleep too.  

Neither of us has a diagnosable back condition (like scoliosis) but I have been waking up feeling achy for months now.

I'm sure your aches are from your old pillowtop mattress.

Your daughter's mattress was recommended based on her size.

It isn't what I recommend for two adults.

Your size affords you the ability to get what your daughter has, but your husband's size requires something stronger.

What I recommend for your use is the same thing my wife and I have at home.

But, the coil count is much higher and the coils are double tempered.

The Beautyrest coils are not tempered.

For the weight of a child...or you, the Beautyrest is fine...but not for a large man.

Also, the upholstery in the Natura Greenspring is Natural Talalay Latex...and contains no memory foam...again, a far better choice for a large man.

My wife and I are both, in the 225 lb range. And this mattress is supportive, comfortable and durable...much longer lasting under these circumstances.

A New Pillow for Your New Mattress.

Hi Jim,

Your problem isn't all that uncommon. 

Your new mattress has realigned your spine, which is likely, not something you had with your old mattress.

Having your body suddenly forced back into its proper alignment can take your body some getting used to.

It isn't uncommon to have this last a week or two before your body gets used to being properly aligned.

 

And, there's one more important factor....your pillow.

Few people give it much thought. But, pillows flatten out with use. 

And, a pillow that seemed perfectly fine with your old mattress, is no longer comfortable with the new mattress....now that your body is differently positioned.

 And, if you're like me, you don't need to buy a new mattress to find it difficult to get comfortable.

I have arthritis on one side of my neck. To make myself comfortable, I use one of two different pillows.

My primary pillow is made by PureBliss...their Talalay/Down model, which consists of finely chopped latex...allowing me to manipulate the material inside to mold around my head and neck.

For the most part, this pillow relieves my neck pain.

Just the other night, I experienced what you described...difficulty in getting comfortable. I swapped pillow for my alternate...also made by PureBliss...their soft Talalay model.

This pillow is very soft and comfortable...something I turn to when I have a headache.

Temperpedic Luxe Cloud: Mattress Sleeps Hot, Causing Night Sweats.

Hi Pete,

We just now are trying a Temperpedic bed-Luxe cloud for husband and a Flex Breeze for me.

I have had a horrible time getting used to it-myself-and still suffering from being too hot with my night sweats AND waking up every day with back pain on entire back.  

The "breeze" brand is supposed to be better for that and supposed to "wick away" the heat-not sure it is.

Now we are in situation where the only thing we are told we can do is exchange for a different Temperpedic model-we've had them about 25 days. 

Our sister in law bought the latex by Bliss and loves it.  We are sad and frustrated-don't know what to do. 

What product do you recommend for dealing with night sweats?

Memory foam...the main product in a Tempurpedic and introduced by Tempurpedic about 20 years ago, has proven itself to be the absolute worst upholstery material ever invented for this purpose.

You bought into the sales hype and all the BS that the salespeople spew.

Memory foam is the only upholstery material that is temperature sensitive. This means that as it warms from the body heat you give off, it softens and you sink into it.

It takes your body's heat and reflects it back to you, making you hot. And, the loss of support from softening is terrible for anyone with a pre-existing back problem.

If you have a back problem, of which you are unaware, memory foam will make you aware of it.

If you don't have a back problem and sleep on memory foam long enough, you will develop a back problem.

And, as if all that weren't bad enough, there's more. Memory foam consists of 61 different chemicals...some of which, are toxic.

It off gasses the toxic chemicals from which it's made and presents a health hazard to every living being in your home.

Headache is the most common negative side effect of this. It also attacks your respiratory system...terrible for anyone with asthma, or any other sort of breathing problem.

The worst negative side effect, that I've had reported to me, is bleeding sinuses.

 

My recommendation is to get rid of it, as it is nothing more than expensive junk, and stay away from memory foam all together.

 

Your sister-in-law bought a latex mattress.

Latex is and has been thee best upholstery material for the last 100 years....most comfortable, most supportive, longest lasting and 100% safe...safe enough for a baby to ingest.

The Pure Bliss is Natural Talalay Latex. "Natural" being a term used for blended latex...30% natural and 70% synthetic.

Synthetic latex is a molecular clone of all natural latex and is used to maintain a consistent final result.

"All Natural" latex is 100% latex. And as with other natural products, there is some slight variation in the way each batch feels....or looks, if you're talking about grains of wood for the same type of tree...for instance.

The only latex to be careful not to buy, are those imported from China....known for adding clay, which can still be called all natural, but reduces the comfort and durability of the latex.

THIS, is where you get cheap latex. Latex, otherwise, is expensive because it's expensive to make...as opposed to memory foam, which is cheap to make and expensive to hype...which is what you paid for.

 

Latex sleeps cool. It's made in a mold with lots of pins. The end result in the finished product are holes where the pins had been. These holes channel your body heat away from you.

All of our bodies go through a nightly ritual of heating up and cooling down.

The last thing you need is memory foam to exacerbate that.

And, you must, or should, protect your mattress from your body's perspiration with a waterproof mattress protector.

The stains created from your perspiration will void the warranty of the mattress, and cause the upholstery materials to wear pre-maturely.

The problem with many on the market, is that they sleep hot...especially the ones with the terry cloth tops.

Also, they tend to make that plasticy crinkly sound...which can be rather annoying.

The one we carry is from a Danish company...all natural, sleeps cool, makes no sound, and won't shrink when repeated washed in hot water.

We tested this and use it at home.
