That is the problem with most of today's mattresses. They don't last. Even under average body weight, consumers are lucky to get 5 years. Most only get one or two.

The reason, mainly, is the use of memory foam...which is designed for comfort to make the sale and worthless afterwards.

We have a mattress that we designed and engineered to hold people who carry extraordinary weight.

It's a two-sided, flippable mattress.

It uses the heaviest and strongest coil unit available, upholstered with the highest density materials and fully tufted for even greater stability.

We've had this mattress on the market for about 5 years....with a couple of our heaviest customers exceeding 500 pounds.

To date, there have been zero complaints.

It comes in a firm model, which is down right hard. It also comes in a plush model. The plush model isn't all that plush, using a layer of latex on each side.

It does take the edge off of the hard feel.

It carries a 15 year warranty, and I expect you will get close to that amount of time.

The doctor told me I had a double ear infection due to an allergen. When she started to question me about my symptoms and what did I do new this week. What's weird is that I have had 3 new mattresses in my house in 5 months and only this one got me sick. If it was for the fire safety chemicals it would have happened with all but it didn't. So, I want to ask you if you could please help me find a natural mattress. I know they are a lot more money than our budget but I think that's what I have to do?

Could you please recommend one from your website or tell me where do I look?

I think I can return this one tomorrow, because it was defective initially and now it's being delayed.

Thank you so much for helping me with this. I'm really running out of options or getting into too many. And it's so confusing when I don't know. The only thing a friend of mine recomended me was creating my own mattress at a website called nontoxicbeds.com. But again I really don't know. You are the expert!

Hi Paula,

I'm very sorry to hear about all the trouble you're having.

At this point, it might be a good idea to move the mattress into the garage and sleep on the sofa until this all straightens out.

Assuming you have a garage.

 

All natural latex is going to be the way to go. It's 100% non-toxic.

This isn't true of all latex, so you have to be careful.

Here is a link to our Ever-Eden brand, which is both, 100% pure  and as reasonably priced as pure latex gets.

One of the reasons why the price is lower is due to the UPS delivery, so you will need to have someone there who can bring it in and unpack it for you.

The most comfortable of them is the 9" model. The 8" model has more of a medium feel, if you prefer that.

We have the Ever-Eden 8" model in our guestroom....using 2' of soft talalay. The 2" of soft Talalay is supported by 6" of dense Dunlop latex.  Over-all, it produces a medium feel.

I would suggest this instead of the 9". The soft Talalay does the best job of pressure point relief and muscular relaxation.

Even the soft latex is extremely resilient. It will hold up well to your husband's size.

Besides having a cushiony feel, it holds you up...zero gravity is the best description i can give.

The 8" seems to me to be your best option...producing the feel you want, and, at a lower cost.

Also, latex does a fine job of dramatically reducing motion transfer.

UPS delivery is free and there's no sales tax.

Hi Rose,

Most of today's boxsprings are cheaply made. A platform bed will, generally, last much longer.

If you have a platform bed, you don't need a foundation.

Just be sure that your platform has lots of slats and that those slats are supported up the center and that center support has legs that reach the floor.

There is nothing better at relaxing strained & tired muscles than latex.

Besides being exceedingly comfortable, latex is also extremely durable...making it the perfect choice for large people.

I have two recommendations for you.

Cheap latex usually comes from China. 
They routinely use clay as a filler, which still allows them to call it all natural.
The clay reduces the quality...durability and duration of comfort.
Latex harvested in Malaysia is processed in China. Just be sure of what you're buying before you buy it.

Latex toppers for used Duxiana 1001 mattresses.

I would have no way of knowing if a 14 year old mattress is still in usable condition.
Neither of us knows what kind of use it got.
