Simmons Beautyrest Elite series Copacabana Plush mattress.

Two years ago, we bought a twin Simmons Beautyrest Elite series Copacabana Plush mattress. We love it and want to buy another one like it. However, they apparently discontinued that line. Is there a replacement line that has the dual-density coils and, in particular, the 14.75 gauge coils that I believe our current one has?

Hi Greg, 

The Elite Series replaced the World Class Series.

As it turned out, the World Class name was very old and was something that people looked to buy. The Elite name had no history or consumer appeal...so they changed it back to World Class.

The is no dual coil. The plush is 15,5 gauge and the firm or luxury firm models use a 13.75 gauge.

The 15.5 guage wire is very thin and creates quite a problem for the buyer...so much so that I don't list any of their plush models on my website.

What we do suggest is starting with a luxury firm and adding a 2" soft Talalay Latex mattress topper for that luxurious feel you're looking for.

Latex, unlike the poly and memory foams used in the mattresses, is resilient as well as comfortable. Latex has been the best upholstery material available for nearly 100 years.

It isn't used in mattresses because it adds to the longevity and they want you replacing your mattress frequently.

This combination is what we have at home. It provides extraordinary comfort and the whole thing keeps its initial comfort and shape for many years.
