Therapedic Keepsake Cameo Plush for a bad back

Question about therapedic - have a messed up back - all the independent coil mattresses hurt to sleep on - upper back pain. The best one is the sealy posturpedic low end model in the firm but its still not enough support and a bit too firm (side sleeper) but i wake up the best (not great still) on it compared to other mattresses. Which therapedic do you recommend that will give me a combination of support (i like a generally firm surface where my side doesnt sink in - like a simmons beautyrest plush firm) but that also doesnt hurt my hips. Which therapedic would you recommend and if anything else? I'm 5'8" @ 155#

Hi Brandon,

Of the 4 two-sided Therapedic models, only the Cameo plush is comfortable enough for a side sleeper without having to add a latex topper. It's an interlocked coil system, just like the Posturepedic unit, but a whole lot more substantial mattress.

This mattress was engineered and marketed more than 4.5 years ago and first tested under a 300 + pounder, who still has it. It still looks and feels like new.

Mattress Advice for Large Woman with Disc Problems and Arthritic Hip, Simmons Beautyrest or Therapedic Medi-Coil Permatuft

I'm in the market for a new mattress and need some help. I'm looking for the best choice for some of the health problems, and issues that exist. I am 5" tall and approx 250lbs. I have back/spinal disc problems, as well as arthritic problems in the hips, legs, and knees, and sleep apnea. I usually start out sleeping on my back just for a short time, then eventually end up switching back and forth between sleeping on my stomach, and then side. Hi Carol,

There's no question about it. The Medi-Coil is the strongest innerspring mattress availalable.

Even with the plush model, you'll still need to add a 2" soft Talalay latex topper to that for the comfort your hip will need.

Another option is the Simmons Black Abriana with the same latex topper. This mattress isn't as strong and won't fare as well over time, but the individually pocketed coils will contour better to you. It's a trade off...the addition relief for your hip for a shorter life span.

You have to take your financial situation into consideration. This is a higher end mattress.

Any of the mattresses with memory foam in them will get mixed to bad reviews.
I'd like to have you take a look at latex mattresses. Latex is a natural product.              It provides excellent support and is very comfortable. What's more, that comfort and     support lasts a very long time. The reviews for latex are glowing, for the most part, as latex mattresses have been the best type of mattress since the 1920s. Latex or Memory Topper for an older mattress‏

Hi Christine,

Memory foam is useless for your purposes. Once it warms from your body's heat, it collapses as if it weren't even there. What's more memory foam is dangerous. It off gasses some very toxic chemicals. It's comprised of 61 chemicals, many of which are toxic and a few are carcinogenic.

To cushion the surface of a mattress, use latex. Latex is all natural and chemical free. Made from the sap of the rubber tree, it is extremely resilient and extraordinarily comfortable. 

And, unlike memory foam, it will last for many years.

Latex Topper on my Serta for that latex mattress feel‏

My question is: What can I add/change to my current Serta Perfect Day iSeries mattress to make it feel more like the Sealy Springfree Gracewood Vale?

Should I just buy a Taladay Latex Topper and add it on top of my bed, or flip the bed over & add a latex topper on there? Also, I'd like to know What type of Taladay Latex to get (1.5"/2"/3", Soft, Medium, Firm).

[FYI: I'm a decently big guy (250lb, 6'0") and my girlfriend is tall (5'9)].

Hi Jason,

The Gracewood Vale had a medium feel, so I would suggest the Medium Talalay to mimic the Gracewood....2" is plenty, although, the 3" will give you more of what you're looking for...to feel like you're sleeping on a latex mattress.

I would also suggest trying the topper on either side of your Serta and settling on whichever side feels better to you. On the top, the feel will be softer...firmer on the underside of the mattress. Here is a link to the latex toppers.

Latex Topper for my Memory Foam Mattress

A Tempurpedic is made of a few inches of memory foam atop a block of firm poly foam.
As much as I dislike losing a sale, the fact is, you may not actually need a new mattress.
The underside of what you have is firmer than the memory foam on top and is not 

temperature sensitive, so it won't sink from your body heat.
Flip your mattress over. If the sleeping surface is too firm, you can add a latex topper in 

whatever level of comfort you would like. 
After a couple of nights on it flipped over, you can then decide if you still need a new 

mattress. But, chances are, you won't.

Back and Shoulder pain, pure LatexBliss mattress

Hi William,
Memory foam and feathers sink and collapse too easily. It may be that all you need

is to replace your toppers with a latex topper. 2" of soft Talalay latex it very comfortable

 and you won't sink through it. It will hold you up.
An all latex mattress is an excellent option if replacing your mattress. The pureBliss 

Natural or Nutrition models would be the ones to look at, with the Nutrition being slightly

 softer than the Nature. I consider both to be comfortable without being too soft...each 

having a firmer core for support that is more than sufficient for your size.

Mattress for Low Back Pain, SI Joint Dysfunction ~ Therapedic Keepsake Cameo Plush

anything too firm since it has given me pressure point pain in the past, but I also can't

 have anything too soft as it doesn't support my back properly. And I really didn't like 

that sinking feeling on those temper pedic mattresses! I tend to be very warm at night

 and felt like I'd turn into a baked potato in those! I am 5'9" 155 lbs. My husband is

 6'1" 235 lbs. We prefer a king size bed since we are not tiny people! Lol ;).

Coming off of an old mattress, you'll find that today's mattresses can be a 

disappointment when it comes to quality and longevity. The industry, as a whole, is 
geared to making mattresses that need to be replaced every few years...at most.

Mattress for a large couple ~ Therapedic "Medi Coil Ultimate Permatuft"

Therapedic Medi Coil Permatuft Plush mattress

I fully appreciate you taking the time to read. You have a good grasp of what you need.

My concern is for your wife. The Medi-Coil, even in the plush, is not very plush. If you two were in agreement as to what you need and like, your topper selection would be right. However, give your differences in comfort selection, I'd change that to accommodate both of you.

I assume you're going with the king size. If so, get two Twin XL toppers...2" for both...one Dunlop for you and one soft Talalay for her.

They will lay side by side on the king without worry of them moving around.

This way, you will each have comfort to your individual taste.

The Medi Coil is the only choice for a 300 pounder. We've engineered it to provide long lasting support to those who carry extraordinary weight. Many of our Medi-Coil customers range between 400 to 500+ pounds.

The Simmons Beautyrest Black Bray is their firmest mattress. But, it won't keep its shape under your weight long enough to be a good value.
