Hi Pete,
My wife and I are currently looking at purchasing another mattress.
We have had this one for almost 4 years, however, it has been
uncomfortable for the last 2. It is a Sears-O-Pedic extra firm pocket
coil mattress that is now very soft and has a sink hole in the middle
of it which started forming in the first year we had it even with doing
our proper rotations. We bought the mattress and box spring half price
for $1000. The previous 2 mattresses prior to that lasted about 3 years
each and were Tempurpedic 100% memory foam mattresses which
the first one was returned due to the memory foam not taking it's proper
form when the bed was empty. The second one did the same thing also and
both had sinkholes in the middle. We are both waking up with neck and
back pain due to the soft spots in the bed.
My wife and I differ quite a bit in weight. We are both really active as she
is a runner and I am a weightlifter. I am 250 Lbs at 5'10 and she is 5'8 at 140 Lbs.
I have had good sleeps in hotels when away for work like the Westin, Hilton, and
especially the Hilton Garden Inn. My wife did not particulary care for the Hilton
Garden Inn bed even when adjusting the settings. I like a bit firmer bed and she likes
plush with pillow tops. I feel the pillow tops contribute to the sink holes in the
sagging of the bed. We want to go try some mattresses out at 'The Brick' and 'Leon's',
however, we are not sure how they will hold up over time. I am fine with purchasing
a new mattress every 4 or 5 years as long as the mattress holds up that long and
remains comfortable for us.
What would your recommendation be for us?
Thanks very much for your time.
Jamie
Hi Jamie,
Your circumstances are quite common. We have successfully addresses this issue time and time again....more frequently over the past 3 years.
The solution involves a good quality, firm mattress. Add to that a 2" layer of soft latex.
Together, they provide long lasting comfort and support.
Here are the links to both items that make up our most popular ensemble sleep system.
