My eyes are sore from reading your blog for hours! I appreciate all of the obvious time and attention you pay to folks who need your help. Obviously, purchasing a new mattress is a huge commitment and a big decision.
My husband and I purchased a Sealy "comfort correct Sorensia" king mattress about 15 years ago -- and have been extremely happy with it. We are both large people... (he is 6' 240 lbs... and I am 5'11"and 155 lbs...) We tend to be either side or back sleepers.... Our Sealy held up well -- but despite regularly rotating and flipping... it has significant caving in now. Time to replace!
From reading your through your archives... I know that a similar style to what we have is now a Stearns and Foster. We looked at a local retailer -- Stearns and Foster Nancy Plush.... also considered Kirkland brand made by Stearns and Foster (Portofino Collection). We are also interested in the beds from Hilton hotels (Serenity bed by Serta) and Hampton Inn (Serta Cloud 9.) We realize that these might be found elsewhere under different names...
Any suggestions you could give would be greatly appreciated. Really want to make a good choice.
Also would love a great recommendation for a queen set for our almost 16 yr old son who has his feet hanging off of his twin bed!!!
With appreciation in advance!
A good choice for your son, the Simmons Beautyrest Flatbrook in Luxury Firm.
It's quite a lot of mattress for the money...shown here:
For you and your husband, I wouldn't recommend any that you're considering.
Nothing is like what was made 15 years ago. None of them will hold up well under your sizes...mostly his size.
The best way around the quality issue of today's beds, is with a sleep system that provides firm stronger support and the surface softness that is both, comfortable and long lasting.
The Simmons Beautyrest World Class Annapolis Place in Luxury Firm, with a 2" soft latex topper does the job.
Here are links to both products.
