Hi Pete,
I just found this site. I have been having hip pain for a few years now and about a year ago, I started having shoulder pain. I have purchased 3 mattresses in a 7 year span. A Sealy pillow top, a Sterns & Foster pillow top, and finally a Serta firm/one sided mattress. I wake up with hip pain all through the night and feel really tired and achy when I get up in the am. I need to fix this problem. The one sided mattress is starting to have a sink. I placed a comforterer under my sheets, and slept pretty good for a change, but soon the problem returned. I need to know how to fix this. I am sure that I can return the firm/one sided mattress. Where do I go from here. I need a quick economical fix to my hip and shoulder problems. Thanks! Jo Anna
Hi Jo Anna,
Serta doesn't make a very good product. So, there isn't a cheap fix to your problem. It's like making sauce with bad wine. You can't fix it.
There are lower cost mattresses that are very well made. Here's a link to a Simmons that I consider to be excellent values. The individually pocketed coils move independently from one another, which will contour better to the shape of your body...reliving the pressure at your hip and shoulder.

For joint pain, like at the hip and shoulder, there's nothing better than a layer of soft latex to relieve that. Normally, I would recommend the topper alone, but your mattress also needs replacing.
Here's the link to the latex toppers.
