Sealy South Court Cushion Firm Mattress

Hi Peter, As my 13 year old said yesterday, "Of course you're overwhelmed Mom, you haven't bought a bed in 13 years!" I have to buy 2 twin beds for a rental property I own in Florida. I want to buy something of quality but also don't want to break the bank doing it. I may on occasion have to use these beds myself so I'd like to buy something that will suit my personal tastes. The Sealy South Court Cushion Firm which felt very comfortable but was a little pricey I thought ($1,000 for the set) and they also could not deliver to Florida. Through another resource I could purchase the Bethany Bay Cushion Firm Mattress Set for $323 which I thought was very reasonable. To add to the confusion I also went to visit another Store and found that they had a mattress set call the Leawood which also seemed very comfortable and was even cheaper. Between these three sets is there much difference at all? Is the quality of the South Court mattress that superi or to the other two that it warrants my trying to find a store in Florida that will deliver it or will the other two serve my purpose just as well or perhaps even better? Perhaps all 3 sets are comparable? I tried to get the salesmen to give me an idea of the grade of mattresses I would be buying from them but they all seemed to avoid the question completely as if I were speaking in tongues.

The South Court is available at one of the most expensive chain stores in the country. A twin set of our comparable Sealy Posturepedic Wysteria Lane runs $600 per set. If that's still a little too rich, consider the Sealy Posture Promo in the "I" grade...Cedarland at $369 per set...a surprisingly well made mattress at that price.

Pretty Bed Latex foam mattress

I'm looking for the Pretty Bed Latex Plush top. My mom has had one for years and I love it. I think she got it from Bloomingdales but they don't carry it anymore. Now that I need to buy a new bed quickly I want the same. Do you know where I can find?

Models change from year to year and you won't be able to buy that particular mattress today.
We do carry a couple of nice, plush latex mattresses...a one sided model from Sealy and a two sided model from Eclipse. The Sealy latex is 100% synthetic and the Eclipse model is 100% natural.

Simmons mattress, S&F boxspring

I was told by one of the mattress stores that I cannot use a Simmons mattress with a Stearns & Foster boxspring because the Stearns & Foster is a soft box spring and it will ruin my Simmons mattress. The Simmons mattress either needs a platform bed or a Simmons boxspring which is made to be firmer. Is this true?

Yes and no.
The S&F boxspring has slightly more flex than the Simmons, but both boxsprings are very firm.
The Simmons boxspring is cheaper made. Both brand of mattress uses the same type of coil system...so it really doesn't much matter.
What does matter, is the warranty. One brand mattress on another brand boxspring...especially an older one, gives the manufacturer an excuse to void your warranty should you need service in the future.

S&F Chateau Paris Mattress

I love my S & F Chateau Paris and would like to buy my son the same mattress. But the names have changed and I'm not sure what would be the closest to it. Can you help me?

S&F did more than change the names. The entire mattress was redesigned...coils, padding, the works.
The Chateau Paris was discontinued and there is nothing in the current S&F line that compares to it.
It would be best to take your son shopping. I'd suggest starting with the N grade S&F. You can see it as the Monet's Garden at Macy's. We have it as the Kimberley.

Sealy Solana Beach latex foam mattress

We bought a Sealy Solana Beach from C&C Mattress Discounters in 2003. It was great.... at first... but it has developed a high spot in the center due to the impressions of our bodies on each side which makes the top very uncomfortable. We are very disappointed in the mattress and are considering buying something new. My wife and I are not large people. I weigh 185 and my wife 120. So, the impressions are totally unacceptable. If we had to do it again, we would not buy this mattress.

Hi Dan. You bought a top line, one sided, ultra plush pillowtop latex foam mattress 7 years ago...not bad for an ultra plush pillowtop...but expensive for the time, no question.
Much of the top of that mattress was super soft poly foam...the part that has the dents.
The waranty protects you if those impressions are 1.5" or deeper. Take a measurement and call with a warranty claim if deep enough.
In the meantime, you can flip the mattress over and sleep on the firmer underside.

Hearst mattress

Can you tell me anything about the Hearst model of your mattresses, which I got 4 yrs ago at Jordan's Furniture in Massachusetts? I'd like to know how it compares to others in quality and comfort. After only 1 year of single (thin) person use, it became lumpy and depressed in the middle. I can hardly sleep. I deserve better for $1800!!

Jordan's sold junky off brands that only looked good...at exorbident prices. Which, I suppose, is why they are no longer in business.
For that kind of money, you could have purchased a reaaly great two-sided mattress that would last you twenty years.
There is a white "law" label on the back that has the manufacturer's name and location. You may have to call 411 for the number. Give them a call and complain directly.

Looking to buy a new mattress set

Looking to buy a new mattress set. Leaning towards the S&F Springbrook or Lucas Park. However, after reading numerous reviews and complaints on the internet, it seems that a lot of mattresses have odor issues. I really cannot afford to purchase a new mattress set and then have headaches or other issues because of it. Is this a problem with all brands? Is there any comfortable and quality mattress that would not have these issues. Also, initially wanted the Euro Top; however, it seems that it is better to get the Plush top instead. Any help would be greatly appreciated as the more I read on the internet, the more confused I get. Thanks!!

To a small degree, there is always something of a "new mattress" odor. There are two things that play into the odor being abnormally strong. The first and most common is memory foam. The second occurs at the foam factories when the poly foam isn't properly cured. This happens on rare occasion....but it's the kind of thing that can happen with any brand, since they all buy their foams from the sources.
Memory foam mattresses are the worst offenders, as something that happens with them on a regular basis.
The S&F Lucas Park and Springbrook models have no memory foam in  them.
