Hello Peter, I am so glad to have found your site. A real wealth of information. I am 5'9 190 wife is 5'4 170. We purchased a Simmons World Class Beautyrest Baymont Ultra Plush Super Pillowtop in Jan 2003. It has been good until the last several months. wife complaining of hip pain and also stiffness in her back. this was a 1400.00 mattress and i guess i was so misguided that you do not always get what you pay for. we sleep on our sides, average 7 hours per night, and have always turned the mattress every 30 days. My question is since this is junk and due to the economy i do not have a lot of money to burn on another 1400 mistake again so what would you recommend to us so we do not get burned again? thank you
Hi Chip. Ultra plush pillowtops are something to avoid. Also, the coils in the Beautyrest are not made od tempered steel.
You'll want to rethink your mind set too. You obviously went for a mattress with a luxurious feel. What you experienced is what happens when you do that. All you really need is "just enough" padding to allow you to sleep deeply. You went way beyond that point with the one you have. Try the Stearns & Foster Chateau Orleans. It's a plush model....not a pillowtop. It really is quite comfy....and reasonably priced for the quality. If you have the money to spend. The Sealy SpringFree River Crest ultra plush...again, not a pillowtop...will provide extraordinary comfort and will last 3 to 4 times longer than the one you have now. It's more expensive, but money well spent...not a mistake.
