Hi, after reading your blogs, Im starting to believe you may be able to help me make a good decision on the purchase of a new mattress. First, my wife sleeps on her stomach and without a pillow(weird), she likes firm but is almost willing to accept what works for me, she has no issues what so ever. I sleep on my sides mostly but Im not sure this isn't due to not being able to get comfy. My issues are normal for a person like me, I have worked in manufacturing for 25 years so my body is ragged due to repetitive motions. Daily joints and muscular pains. My common problems are back aches (maybe muscular) elbows and shoulders hurt most mornings(joints). Arms fall asleep throughout the night so I toss and turn numerous times per night. I'm concerned that I may select the wrong mattress. I feel that my budget is about $2K maybe a little more but I cant afford to waste it. I like the feel of the Sealy SpringFree (latex middle model) it seems like the most comfortable to me but is it going to be durable. What spring loaded bed would you recommend if I decide not to get the Latex bed. Im really at a cross roads and could use so help.
The two mattresses that I have tried and like are the Sealy Springfree Plush ($1699.00) and Sealy Springfree ultra Plush ($1999.00) do you think either one is to soft or firm. Duribility is a big issue with me and even though Latex has been around awhile, Im still skeptical of its duribilty becuase it seems that latex is the most uncommon beds sold ( I may be wrong on this) but I say that because I have found only a few personal reviews on the net. I really am on a budget but, for the best night sleep I'll try anything. Also, can you recommend a couple of Spring type mattresses that would be good for my type.
Thanks Steve
Hi Steve, The plush latex, my Beachside, more than the ultra plush, my River Crest. There's no question that you would be happier with the ultra plush, but as a stomach sleeper, it's likely to be too soft for your wife. And yet, the plush should still be good for you. The contouring support will cradle you and so you'll toss and turn less, getting a deeper night's sleep. If you do find that you'd be happier with a softer top, then get a latex topper for your half. That way, you'll both get a good night's sleep. Because Steve, you know what they say, "If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy". Don't worry, latex has always been the most durable mattress available. Years ago, they were a lot more expensive, proportionately. They are very popular now, that the price is more in line with other high quality beds.
