Our new Tempurpedic mattress has a terrible odor

We JUST had our furniture store remove our temperpedic bed from our home.  After 10 days... the horrible smell is still not gone.  We've kept our windows open with a ceiling fan running.  Everything and anything that touches the mattress smells horrific.  Our pillows, bedding, comforter etc. We can "taste" the chemicals on our lips.  Horrible.  The manufacturer said while rare, this does happen when the mattress is wrapped for shipping too soon.  Wonder how toxic this is.  Anyone have this problem?

Hi Donna, That sort of thing is rare at such a severe degree. To a lesser degree, it's not that uncommon. The flame retardant chemicals in the polyfoam can be extremely toxic, if not properly cured. Also, I've had people complain about the glue that's used to bond Tempurpedic's memory foam to the poly foam. I would suggest putting it in the garage, (if you have one), until it can be replaced.
