Natural or synthetic latex mattress

I have read quite a few things that recommend natural over synthetic latex.  For example, the Serta latex line is Tallalay latex and carries a 30 year warranty, versus all synthetic latex with a 20 year warranty for Sealy.  Do natural and synthetic feel different, wear differently, smell different?

Hi George, The Serta isn't all Talalay latex, just topped with it. It has a natural latex core. All the different latex wear and feel about the same. Synthetic latex is the only type that doesn't smell like rubber. The consistency of the cell structure insures That each model feels the same every time one's made. Natural latex, as with any natural product, varies in consistency. The very quality of the rubber varies, depending on the sap that's harvested. Variations in rainfall and temperature have an affect on the sap that comes from the rubber tree. Longer warranties are an inducement to buy. When products are of questionable quality or over priced, as are many celebrity endorsed items, the longer warranty creates the illusion that it is a superior product...or worth the extra money. Warranties protect you against defects and have nothing to do with how long they'll last or how well they'll wear. Read the warranty card carefully.
