Sealy Posturepedic Timeless Day mattress

I tried a Sealy Timeless Day (Jefferson Level) and Sweet Maple (Iona Level) mattress.  Both felt good, but I am replacing my mattresses because I wake up with upper or lower back or side pain or leg numbness, depending on the day.  Should I be concerned that these options are too plush?  Will these models last?  Thank you for your time.

Hi Julie, The more padding you put in a mattress, the more compression of that padding can be expected. The "G" grade has the same coil count as the ones you mentioned, but less padding. That "G" grade pillowtop is plenty comfy and will keep its shape better. We have it as the Cedar Rose, but it'd be called the Lakeside Mist where you're shopping.

Hi Charles, The level 5, or "G" grade Posturepedic is a cushion firm. There is a "firm" at levels 4 and 6. Our level 5 is called Cedar Rose and the level 6 is called Cherokee Park.

S&F, Stearns & Foster Edwardian Room mattress

Hi Peter,
My wife and I are on the market for a new king size bed.  We've been Sealy
mattress people... we've overstayed our welcome on a 14 year old
double-pillowtop posturepedic that was called "PLUSH-FIRM" (is that an
oxy-moron?) It's been a good mattress for us.
Anyway, we're thinking about stepping up into the streans and foster Plaza
collection.  For budget reasons, the one we have our eyes on is the
Edwardian Room.  (That's the low end of the Plaza Collection.) It's rated
as "firm", but feels comfortable with good support. (I had a double
discectomy with fusion in my low neck 7 years ago, so I like the support of
a firm mattress.  I'm a side sleeper now.)
Do you have any thoughts about this mattress?  I've read a few reviews
where people had issues with too much sag in these mattresses, and others
who complain that they sleep very hot. (Not great for warmer climates.  We
live in LA.
I look forward to your thoughts.

Hi Chris, The Edwardian Room, Bouquet at my store, is the starting model in the S&F line. The firmness designation is "cushion firm". Except for one other, every model in the line has a layer of memory foam and a layer of latex. The Edwardian Room/Boquet has neither.
The complaints you read about heat would have been from the thicker, plusher models...mostly pillowtops. In the previous line-up, the "cushion firm" feel was achieved with layers of memory foam near the top. It was the memory foam that caused the body impressions. The current line uses a thin layer of memory foam at the bottom...just above the coils, where it works well as a support layer. The comfort layer was changed to latex, which is extremely resilient. Even so, body impressions to some degree are to be expexted. Rotating the mattress regularly will help keep them to a minimum.
Another mattress to consider, at the same price, is the Sealy Posturepedic Cedar Rose cushion firm...a level 5 Posturepedic. Level 5 startes their higher coil count and that cushion firm model is surprisingly comfortable.

Sealy Venice Beach Latex Mattress

We own a Sealy Reflexion Venice Beach mattress that we are very happy with. We also have a Sealy Jacaranda for our son. This mattress seems a bit too firm. We have another mattress to replace and would like to buy another Sealy latex mattress.  We tried the Brasswood model in our local store and found it to be too firm.  The Garden Vine did not seem quite substantial enough.  We haven't found a Meadowcrest to try.  Which model do you think will be most like the Venice Beach?

Hi Bob, The Meadowcrest, my River Crest, is the current model that is most like the Venice. It'll be plusher than the Garden Vine, which is my Beachside.

Intellibed mattress

Hi Bruce, Their product appears to be unique. I know of no one else making a gel mattress. The Stearns & Foster level 9 cushion firm, Chateau Vitre, provides the unique feel of being suspended. It uses S&F heavy coil unit and it's topped with a 3" individually pocketed coil. The feel is fantastic, but it is a bit pricey.

Dust mite allergy. A latex or memory foam mattress

Thank you for all the great information!  It seems that most people who have asked about allergens have a latex allergy, which I do not, but I am allergic to dust mites.  The salesperson at my local store told me that Tempurpedic was hypoallergenic because the construction of the memory foam is such that there are no holes anywhere to trap skin cells or dust mites.  When you describe the Sealy SpringFree, you mention that the latex has holes that channel heat away from the body (good to know, because I was concerned about being too hot), but does that also mean that skin cells can build up in those holes? 
In general, do you think the SpringFree is a good choice for 2 medium-sized people with no major physical issues?  We just want to get a good night's sleep and wake up in the morning feeling good.  Thanks for your help!

Hi Abigail, I get such a kick out of mattress salesmen. They're tough...like Marines. They improvise, adapt and overcome. Dust mites breed in natural fibers like wool, cotton, cashmere, etc. Latex and memory foam are hypoallergenic. They provide a hostile environment for dust mites. A microscopic dust mite would have to want to dig through a couple of inches of poly foam to get to an empty hole. If there are dead skin cells that far down, it means you haven't changed the linens all year. If that's so, dust mites are the least of your problems. Vacuming your mattress with an upholstery attachment is the best way to minimize their population. You should have also invested in a vacuum cleaner that filters them out.
Latex is, by far, superior to memory foam. It's considerably more durable...more comfortable and much cooler. The starting model, the Sealy SpringFree Beachside, is all you need.

Close out S&F, Stearns & Foster mattress

We purchased a S&F mattress from "Mattress Discounters" for $700, they listed the original price was $2500. (since they sell floor models, the price is reduced). I don't know the model--the label on the mattress has "The Plaza collection" "Foam Encased" and "Genuine Cashmere". This is the firmest mattress we could find on the market. But after 2 months it began to make noises when people sit on or turn around in bed. the noise is louder and louder now. I wonder what could be the problem and is there any way to solve it. HI Lily, Noises are more common in the boxspring...rarely in the mattress. Have someone listen at the side while someone else is on the mattress. You could get lucky. If it is the boxspring, it can be replaced inexpensively.

Hi Jennifer, You'd have to find a off brand for what you want. But body impressions will occur with any mattress. The thicker and plusher the mattress is, the deeper the impression will get. And it won't matter if it's 1 or 2 sided.

Looking for a good $1000 mattress
