We are close to making a mattress purchase and would like your advice. We have a platform bed with no box spring, and the platform is solid and flat with no slats. we have been sleeping on a medium-firm queens mattress for several years and wake up every morning with back pain and stiffness.
I travel a lot for business and always have a great night's sleep when I stay in Westin hotels and sleep on the Heavenly Bed. My brother, who recently bought a Sleep Number 7000 from Select Comfort and raves about it, warns me that a coil mattress such as teh Heavenly Bed won't be as comfortable on a platform.
I read in other comments on this blog that the Sealy Spring-Free latex bed is recommended for platforms. We need your advice. Which bed would be the best fit for the type of platform we have? Which specific model of the spring-free latex bed should we try, and in which stores? Is the bed carried under different names in different stores?

Hi Ken,
Remember when shopping that your type of platform will make everything you try feel firmer than it does at the store. The degree of extra firmness will depend on the boxspring the sample sits on, so push on it to see how givey it is. The key word in describing how your brother raves about his air mattress is "recently". I've heard tons of complaints about them, so wait a year and tell me then, what direction his raving takes.
