Hi Pete, Thank you so much for your fantastic blog. I recently stayed at a brand new comfort inn and they had this mattress in the photos below. Any idea where I can buy this exact mattress? I have had back pain every night fir 5+ years and have bought several mattress. All hurt me. Except this. It has been a sleeping nightmare. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, David
All of the upholstery, in that mattress, is polyurethane foam.
Sealy is now owned by Tempurpedic. Every mattress that Sealy makes, today, is loaded with memory foam.
Nothing you can buy from Sealy will be like that mattress you slept on.
Memory foam is the worst upholstery material ever invented. It's purpose is to sell more mattresses, more frequently, to the same people.
That Sealy mattress was a quality product...simply no longer available from that manufacturer.
To more closely mimic what you slept on, we have to go to a different manufacturer.
The Brooklyn Plush model, on this next link, is such a mattress.
My husband and I have had the Sealy Reflexion Venice Beach Latex Mattress, that we love, which we bought from you many years ago.
Thank you for steering us to it.
We are looking for a bed for our daughter and wanted to buy the same one but Sealy no longer makes this model.
We really love the comfort and were wondering if you knew what the new model name is called.
Thanks again, Jillian
Sealy was purchased by Tempurpedic in 2013. Everything Sealy makes today, is loaded with memory foam.
Memory foam is the antithesis of latex...with latex being the best upholstery material over the past 100 years...and memory foam being the worst.
So, we turn to different brands using high quality latex and containing NO Memory Foam.
Best option is from EverEden. Their 9" all natural latex mattress, using a soft 6" Dunlop latex core and a soft 3" Talalay latex top layer, will produce a similar feel to what you have. She'll love it as much as you love yours.
