Hello
I own a three month old Royal Aireloom king size mattress. I have been using it on split boxsprings on a metal frame. I just purchased a sleigh bed, which I love, but I am worried I am now not getting proper support for my mattress (and my back) The mattress is very thick, and the sleigh bed is intended for a matress only. It has 16 wooden slats running horizontally from top to bottom, and one wooden cross slat with three legs down the middle. The mattress company says this is not enough support (they said I would need a minimum of 5 cross slats) and the bed company said all their beds are made this way, and they get few if any complaints. Can you please give me any advice here, as I have three weeks left to return the bed. Thanks so much!!
Hi Alexandra, You have some miscommunication going on. Mattress factories require 5 hardwood cross slats for a bed that accepts a mattress and boxspring. You don't have that kind of bed, Yours is a platform bed. Yours doesn't require the use of a boxspring. You're free to use it, but it will likely make the mattress too high. As slatted platform beds go, yours has better than average support.
