We are mattress shopping for beds in a vacation house we bought in FL--have had work done to interior and not needed furniture until now.
Need a king (possibly queen) for our bed, a queen for guest room, a queen or double for another guest room and probably a twin for a day bed in the office...
Since this is a vacation home and we won't be there full time we are reluctant to spend the type of money we might for a full-time mattress but we also want something that we can sleep on for two or three weeks at a time and not regret our purchase. We will be spending more time here after my husband retires...The guest beds will see even less frequent use than ours but again we want a decent grade of mattress...
My husband and I like a firmer mattress with good support. And we have added a topper to the mattress we use now. I am 5' 6", overweight and a side-sleeper...he is side and back sleeper, 6'1" and about 200 lbs...We currently have an innerspring and aren't really liking any foams we have tried.
We have been to couple of stores and tonight at Dillards (in DFW area) we tried three that might work
A Simmons BeautyRest Lorena Lane Firm EPT
A Simmons BeautyRest Haynes Way cushion firm I believe
and the one I favored
a Stearns and Foster Susan one the card (not Suzanne) that was Luxury Firm--and priced about 1400 on sale for a king size...that is almost double what the two Simmons BeautyRest were
I can't find any "Susan" mattresses--even the Dillard's website does not carry info on it--so don't know what its composition is...the one person in that dept was helping someone else and we didn't wait for info...thought could find it on-line--not so...
What can you tell me about the three and which is more likely a good fit for our sleeping/body styles? What do you have that compares?
What would you recommend for the guest room beds that would be in about 400-500? Can we get a decent mattress set for that?
Thanks--you have a great site/blog...
Just wish you were closer...can you recommend a quality mattress store in the DFW area--
this vacation house is south of Sarasota FL--so if you have a recommendation to make for that area we will be going later this month...
You're right, For a vacation home that gets limited use, you have the luxury of spending less.
There is one mattress, in particular, that is perfect for that. I would suggest getting this same mattress for every room, including you master bedroom.
The only thing that I would suggest extra is that you add a 2" medium latex topper to it. Latex is extrmely resilient and will absorb the extra weight.
The Mattress is the Simmons Beautyrest Adamsville in plush/firm.
Here is the link to that and the topper.
The mattress is surprisingly nice for its price point.
