I know the water bed is considered taboo. I had a 6"foam water bed California King. for 16 years . The best sleep I have ever had in my entire life. I now have a sleep numberbed California King. I have yet to find an air position, that is comfoortable. I even purchased a Trillion baffle woven topper to put on top of the cashmere sleeper.I still am still not sleeping well. Is there any thing you can suggest?

Hi Diana. Air mattresses don't have the same feel as a waterbed. My wife had both, prior to our getting married. She too, loved her waterbed and didn't much care for the air mattress. She is enjoying the latex mattress we have. It provides better support than a waterbed, but has a similar feel. The Sealy SpringFree Beachside is what all of us, here, sleep on at home.

A year ago, we purchased a Stearns & Foster Plaza Terrace Room king mattress. After the first night, I developed pain in my hips that made sleeping unbearable. I absolutely could not lie on either side and my arms began falling asleep. We piled the bed up high with comforters, foam, etc. I practically needed pet steps to get into bed.
We did a comfort exchange and got the Kingsdown 200 Series with tan and blue. (I know, I know – I hadn’t found your site yet). My husband likes a very firm mattress and is “ok” on the blue side, although it seems that the bed had softened up considerably since we got it. I got the softest side because of my painful hips. I am 5’ 7” and weigh 122 lbs. My hips did eventually get better but can still be re-activated easily (like they did when we went mattress shopping a few weeks ago), so I’m thinking this is going to be a lifelong problem. My side of the bed is now like I’m sleeping in a hammock and it is very hot. I’ve slept on my husband’s side of the bed before and do not feel the heat over there. Now that it’s softened up, I actually do pretty well on that side.
We looked recently at the Select Comfort Sleep Number bed and actually went so far as to order one but had delivery held. We liked the idea of it being adjustable, as mattresses seem to change over time, and we both have different needs. My husband likes the mattress very firm and I feel like I need something softer because of the hip joint pain. My very soft Kingsdown does not seem to really help the hips when they are sore. After all this, I found your site and saw your comments on Sleep Number, none of them favorable.
Have you heard of anybody using a latex topper with the Sleep Number beds?
