On a recent vacation, I stayed at the Swissotel Chicago, and fell in love with their bed. I have read in an earlier blog post that they use the Sealy Posturpedic Celestial CSS Plush mattress with a Pacific Coast Feather Company Baffle Box Feather Bed on top. That's great! Now I can easily find and order the topper, but how can I get my hands on one of those mattresses. I'd prefer to try one at a store before I make the big leap and spend the dough, but I don't know where to look. Is there a store that sells twin sized versions of this commercial mattress, where I could try one out, or is there a specific (more residential) mattress equivalent that I could be able to lay on and feel out?
Hi John. It's gonna be tough picking out a mattress without the comforter top to simulate the feel. Generally, you'd get a firm model. Hotels use a lower end Posturepedic. They aren't used every night and they only keep them a few years. You wouldn't want that same quality for home use. The next step up in the Posturepedic line has the same coil system, but a higher coil count and better edge support. Ask for the Posturepedic Reserve firm or cushion firm models. They are surprisingly affordable and a much better value than the hotel quality level.
