Hi Peter, To reply to the questions you raised in your answer to my original question.. I liked the Dormia because it was a latex mattress w/memory foam on top (not memory foam throughout). Healthy Back actually is responsible for warranty as Dormia manufactures for them. After reading your blog, it encouraged my bent toward this one as it's latex. I also thought it might be the best bet for my neck pain compared to innerspring (no matter what brand). And I liked the adjustable option. Regarding the Sealy, I didn't find a comfortable Sealy in Macy's (compared to the Beautyrest) and was thinking maybe I should get away from traditional innerspring altogether because of my neck. I'm also afraid of the mattress chain stores (my Sealy was from a smaller, independent store years ago). I'm starting to think the Beautyrest is a bad idea after reading reviews, but liked that partners could move independently without waking each other up (which happens with my boyfriend and I now on the Sealy). Can you recommmend a Sealy that is latex with a plush pillowtop (a tight pillowtop maybe) that would be good for me, and which could help my neck pain. Also, I should update the way I sleep - I start on my stomach/side and seem to end up on my back. Thanks,Sue
Hi Sue. Even the memory foam mattresses aren't memory foam all the way through. They are mostly 3 or 4 inches of memory foam atop several inches of poly foam. Adding memory foam doesn't make the mattress better. Since latex is the best of the foams, adding memory foam only adds the ill effects of memory foam to an otherwise, perfectly good material. And if you decide to go with that, make sure the warranty says that the store will honor the warranty if the factory goes out of business. Get it in writing. Sealy makes a latex line called SpringFree. The starting model is a plush tight top...The Beachside, which is their most popular model. Your neck problems are better addressed with a pillow that is the right thickness, as to keep your neck aligned with your spine.
